Well, I have but not strongly. I am deliberately looking for programs that doesn't just align with my areas of interests but also those that offer all funding without separate applications, and I don't think such is common in the UK.
-
Go ahead and apply.✌️ I have submitted another application 2 days ago. I am also waiting on some schools to waive the application fee. ?
-
I guess we are in it together. I have submitted 1 application, still researching other schools and programs. You?

I submitted my application on 4th of December.

Hey everyone, Guess what!!! I just got accepted into Columbia (MSW 2Years program). I am so excited about this ???, I was literally shaking in my bed as I read through my acceptance letter. ? Thanks to everyone who have shared their excitement and frustrations during the cause of our waiting, this thread and every contribution made the waiting a bit easier. ? Thanks again. ???

Thanks, I really value your response. The thing is that I have already chosen Policy related concentration (thinking long-term) in the few unis I have applied to but deep down in me - I'm also good with working with people on individual basis, plus there is a part of me that loves teaching - meaning I'd love to do PhD in the future maybe 'cos I have education background and now finishing BSW. So, this is why am now thinking/researching about generalist.

Hi guys, Out of curiosity and desire to learn from others. Please, if you would, kindly share your insights/thought about what might be the benefits and/or disadvantages of generalist VS specialist MSW or either of them. Thanks

Thanks for sharing this, it may be useful for me too, CU just confirmed my interview for next week. Can't wait!!!

Thanks for taking time to respond to and offer valuable advice to me. Your response has given me reason to think deeply again about my decision and options. I really love the profession of Social Work and I think i'd be more effective and happy if I get opportunities to practice at macro level and/or kinda like managerial positions. I would love to work on ambitious innovative projects or programs that can have great impact on many people at once, or design programs or policies as such. Another thing I love is teaching and/or talking/sharing knowledge and experiences with groups of adults (I have teaching background and I am already in my late 30s). I have left everything behind because I want to live the rest of my life knowing that I pursued a career that I love and practice till I die but then I also would like to make some money to be able to take care of my wife of many years who has supported my crazy ideas and all though it hasn't been easy. Note, I understand that there seems to be more opportunities in the areas of Health/medical social work, (though I am comfortable/good at working with individuals and I am the go to person for people that know me) but I really don't think I would be satisfied working behind the scene or desk (hope you understand me). I am deliberately laying all these out 'cos am open to ideas or suggestions that can help me achieve my goals without having to wonder around again. I have taken your advice about applying to more schools, though I really wish I could get into CU - considering the possibilities/opportunities and the calibre of students it garners (collaborations). For instance, I would love to explore social entrepreneur ideas and I hope to apply for PhD immediately after my MSW. I am currently working on an innovative idea in the form of a research project and I'd like to see such be developed into actual programs/real project that can affect millions of poor-rural children. I hope you guys don't mind reading all these while we all wait for responses and worry about different college decisions. Pardon me.

You'll be ok, I believe some of us can relate to what you're feeling but stay encouraged, I am sure nothing is wrong with you and big deal having to withdraw from a program on health grounds. You'll be fine. I hope this helps.

Pitts also wants my Uni to mail my transcripts too despite receiving them via official email, hence I don't consider them an option anymore.
-
Thanks, now am beginning to consider applying for more Unis just in case.

Please, if I may ask - did you received fellowship application offer(s) weeks/days after submitting your application? I did, so I just want to know if its same for all applicants and/or maybe anyone has received such fellowship offer, just curious.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I am already feeling uncomfortable as I hate waiting or been unsure, I wish I could just speed up things. I submitted my application on 12/08/2019 and I was hoping that the 8wks starts from then but for your experience with them. Thanks all the same.
-
Hi guys, Please, I have received an email/response to my inquiry from Columbia regarding how long I am to wait for, so I need help understanding when the "8 weeks" starts from? I have just received a second email from Heller (Brandeis University) trying to persuade me to take their offer (60% Scholarship for Master in Sustainable International Development). .........Thank you for your email. Your application is complete and your materials have been received. If we require additional items from you, our office will be in touch. If the Office of Admissions wishes to schedule an interview, you will receive an email inviting you to sign up for an interview time. You do not need to take any action at this time. You can expect to receive your admissions notification within approximately 8 weeks........ Anyone with experience relating to waiting for CU offer will be helpful and appreciated. Thanks

Hey Guys, I have been following the thread for a while and I must say thank you for sharing something similar to what am currently feeling - in terms anxiety, indecision, having to wait, etc. I hope to be an international student in the USA by fall 2020. I am an international student in India and in my last semester of BSW. I have returned to college after many years away from school. - I applied for MSW at Columbia - waiting for decision (I will probably write them soon). Waiting. - I applied for MA (SID) at Heller School of policy (Brandeis Uni.). Accepted with 60% tuition scholarship but I have to accept by April 15th. - MA Policy at UNA - still waiting. Please, can any give me relevant info or advice about CU and (SID) "Sustainable International Development" at Brandeis, plus considering that my situation maybe a bit peculiar (international student), I would really like to get into CU especially if they'll offer me fellowship/scholarship better than Heller's 'cos I really desire to continue my career with SW. Thanks
