  1. Hello there! Recently I was admitted to these two programs and I am wondering if someone could give me some advice on the choice. UCSD is well-known for its bioE but I don't know if it is the same for the master program. Plus it is a newly opened MS.Med program but it looks like it has a lot of flexibility(you can have 36 units of elective on almost any engineering and biological courses) UCSF is also a well-known and graduate-only university on bio and medical. I don't the reputation of radiology though. It looks more medical than bio or engineering to me. Personally, I am going to pursue a doctoral degree in the future(if fortunate enough to get an offer) in bioE or neuroscience, and I don't think I have the ability to handle MD study. These two schools are pretty similar to me so if someone can give advice I would be very grateful.
  2. Hello there, I want to ask what is the chance of applying for transition to phd in BME in ucsd. Is it as competitive as you apply for other school(As a fresh applicant) or is it easier if you have good master gpa/recommendation from lab you work? Also, if I apply for a transition to phd can I switch field(ie. BME to Neuroscience)? Thanks for any replies, appreciate ur help.
  3. Hi, I have just accepted my offer for my graduate school, is there any advice for new master student(ie. do we have professor rating like undergraduate, workload suggestion for each semester?) For me, my undergraduate gpa is pretty low(roughly 3.0) so I am very deeply worried about my grade in graduate life. BME major, any suggestion is welcome and appreciated.
  4. Hello there, I am about to enroll in a master program and am thinking about joining a lab. My program is a BME MS program and I am 90% sure that I want to pursue a doctoral degree. I am wondering if working in a lab could raise the opportunity when I apply for the transition to phd or better grade is more favorable? Also for 48 units graduation requirement(UC system), is it possible to finish the degree in one year or should I study for 2 years to have more time for lab work and to get better grade? Thanks for any help and advice, wish you could all get your offer/accepted paper

It is a master program with medical specification of Bioengineering. (MS.Med) How is it different from the regular master program? Can I apply for transition to phD with this program? I knew that UCSD is really good at bioengineering, is it the same for such master program too? Since I have a really bad GPA and not-so-good LOR and PS, I am really worried that this is a program designed for moneybags...
