  1. Do you know your so called solidarity, class struggle, and collective action are part of the mandatory political education in mainland China? Look how competitive and suppressive China is. Besides, asking artists to transform society is nothing new, as Soviet Union used to call artists “the engineers of society” see what kind of socialistrealismus Ideological propaganda they were making? I don’t think you understand art at all even though you claimed to be in academia.(academia is a battlefield anyway) Art(visual, literature, music) gives you opportunities to become another person to travel into another world through empathy and understanding. It kills your ego and it makes you a better human being with less anger and violence. If you believe art is an instrument for political power then you will be very disappointed. Don’t be people who love art criticism more than art itself, or you’ll be like the critics in Bolaño’s 2666, chasing a ghost of the past.
  2. Hi. I am very sure Goldsmiths is now my first choice but I want to switch my program to MFA Computational Art. The tuition is much cheaper and I can learn creative coding which would be good for my practice.
  3. Just received offer from NYU Studio Art! I also got into RISD D+M, Hunter combined media, and Goldsmiths MFA. The only thing I don’t like about Goldsmiths is that they force me to take one year per-master, which makes me feel very suspicious about the program. As there are tons of pre master programs aim for international students who aren’t local brits
  4. Weren't you already accepted to the program on March 22?
  5. Congratulations on getting so many great offers! Which one do you prefer?
  6. Just received offer from Hunter! They also mention there is some flexibility around which semester to begin the program due to the global pandemic.
  7. That’s what I heard from them. Half tuition scholarship for each student.
  8. Congratulations! When did you receive the offer from NYU? I got email says they will release decisions at the end of March.
  9. Compare to my NYU in person interview, I would say the same, it's not the best interview. Maybe the virus hits them hard and they are busy at dealing with other things than interviewing new students.. I had a skype interview with Andrea Blum of Combined media on Tuesday and it was way too casual lol , another professor called Alexandro segade who was supposed to interview me but he was ill(not the virus, I hope) The interview is very short and we didn't even talk about my work at all. She also mentioned they will release decisions during the weekend. Hope we all get in!
  10. Congrats! I still have an interview with them on March 24th.
  11. Me neither, wish I could visit it in person. I heard the interview is tough...so the questions might be helpful.
  12. You too! Are you going to the campus?
  13. Thank you! I applied to the MFA Fine Art program, which is interdisciplinary I think. But I work with digital media and sculpture.
  14. Just heard back from Goldsmiths this morning. They invited me to interview on March 24th, 16:00 UK time.
  15. I feel you. I lived in a tiny Coso bedroom Upper West near Columbia for about a year and I can't believe the price I was paying for. But good to hear they offer 50% off and teaching jobs.
  16. Sounds like a good place to go, I think I’ll go ask them about the teaching job and potential funding opportunities. They offer a lot of scholarships though
  17. I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with Hunter, which makes me feel more nervous about the interview lol. As a fellow artist also working in new genres(mostly computer, digital image, game), I would absolutely pay attention to all the problems you were saying. Funding is just tough, I want to do motion capture but even the cheap option costs like one grand... being an artist without a paintbrush is not easy For NYU, thanks for your positive feedback. I've heard it's a very good program but I can't find much info about it, is it also a painting/sculpture oriented program? Do you happen to know any current students?
  18. Hi! It’s kind late to ask but I received interviews from Hunter and NYU, would love to hear your opinion on NYU Studio Art Steinhardt.
  19. Thanks for the info! Good luck with your study
  20. Really? I saw the website says you have to be graduate standing for the MFA and MA is for the undergrad? UK system is very different tbh I thought MA is like a liberal art, critical theory focused program and they designed this program to bridge students into the practice . But If what you said is true, I guess the school is really hard to get in
  21. I don’t feel positive about it either. The interview was too short to talk about my works and they didn’t show interests at all
  22. For anyone who is interested in knowing NYU and Hunter interview, RISD D+M interview, here is my situation: NYU MFA Studio Art, in person interview invitation via email on Feb 22th, interview on March 7th Hunter MFA Studio Art Combined media, in person interview invitation via email on Feb 12th, doodle sign up for in person interview released on Feb 17th, interview on March 14th RISD D+M interviewed on Feb 10th, they mentioned they would make decision(not notification) on Feb 25th, but nothing from them yet Yale Sculpture reject Columbia uni, no interview, no MFA in slide room, probably reject UCL Slade reject, I applied to MFA but I believe for undergrad you have to apply the MA degree then go for the MFA, what a pain goldsmith, nothing yet SAIC film animation, reject through mail
