  1. I accepted the offer at Tufts and declined others a few weeks ago. Hope you hear some good news soon. (Praying that the pandemic is over soon and we all get to take in-person classes in the fall!!!)
  2. It would be so unfortunate if fall is still online - that means that the virus is still not contained by then. I'm also concerned that another online semester would mean another pass/fail only semester (my undergrad school and several others switched to P/F only this semester, which is the right thing to do in the current situation). Another issue is how international students could possibly maintain their status if classes are online and they take those classes in their home countries (and they also have to stay up late in order to attend classes)... all in all online classes just don't work
  3. do you all think that the fall semester can physically start on time (in August/September)...? I'm worried but hope I'm overthinking this
  4. I'm not sure how much tuition remission/funding I would get from Brandeis. If I get full tuition remission then I think I might need to talk to current/past students at Brandeis, UWM and Tufts to make the final call. They all have good placement records. But location-wise I have a strong preference for the Boston area
  5. My email said the same thing. I think tuition/scholarship info would be included only in the GSAS formal letter
  6. I was actually in contact with Prof. Evrigenis before I applied because I was very interested in his works and the courses he runs. If I attend Tufts I will definitely make room in my schedule to take his class. Other than him, I'm also quite interested in working with Prof. Erin Kelly at Tufts. It's true that there are more professors focusing on epistemology, mind, etc. than on political philosophy at Tufts, but I'm afraid that's also the case with UWM and most other philosophy departments in North America. For PhD I'm not sure if I want to apply to philosophy departments (and do political philsophy) or to poli sci departments (and do political theory). But I thought either way having some analytic training would be good. As far as I know Tufts's MA program requires a very intense logic course in the first semester, and that would benefit me even if I end up applying to law schools afterwards. Thanks for your reply!
  7. Hi all. I applied to philosophy MAs for Fall 2020 entry and was fortunate enough to have a few acceptances. Right now I am debating between Tufts and UW Milwaukee and would like to hear your advice. My AOI is political philosophy and ethics. My plan after the MA is to apply to PhD and JD programs. Job prospect is important to me and I know that the job market for philosophy PhD students is not great. Hence, my preliminary plan is that if I don't get into a top PhD program I will go to law school. Now I'm leaning towards Tufts due to its reputation and location, but it's not fully funded and living expense in the area is quite high. UWM also has a good reputation though it's less conveniently located, and it is offering me full tuition remission + TA-ship. My financial situation is not bad and I won't go into debts if I attend Tufts - I am working full time this year and have some savings, and my family is pretty supportive. But I prefer to be financially self-sufficient and not take too much money from my family, esp. considering that I may still need their financial support for law school (or PhD, if the program's funding is not generous)... is it worth it to go to Tufts instead of UWM ? Any advice/input would be helpful. Thanks in advance. P.S. I have declined offers/withdrawn from waitlists at places other than Tufts and UWM. I hope that helps someone out there.
  8. waitlisted at Georgia State which is fully funded... seems that I may have to pay for the MA (I'm also waitlisted at SFU) geez
  9. hey I was the one who posted the BC masters acceptance - got an email at 11:20pm ET yesterday to check the online portal. Maybe you can call/email them to inquire?
  10. congrats on the acceptances! SFU is the only Canadian program I applied to. My top choice is Tufts. Idk how exactly SFU compares to Tufts and I know that each program's evaluation process is a bit different, but my sense is that applications to Tufts are more competitive than SFU. Now I'm quite worried that I won't get into Tufts given that I'm waitlisted at SFU. The wait is driving me nuts
  11. I graduated last year and am applying to MA programs right now while working full time. Really hope that I could go back to school this fall and am quite anxious about the results... am on the waitlist at Simon Fraser currently and fingers crossed that I get off it and/or receive acceptances elsewhere... Can't help checking the app portals and grad cafe multiple times every day while I'm in the office lol.
  12. To the person who logged in an acceptance from New School (philosophy masters - cognitive science track) on the results page - did you find out the result in the Admissions Hub? I don't see anything there on my end... I'm not on the cog sci track though, didn't know there were different tracks lol. Quite nervous about the result. Congrats to you!
  13. waitlisted at Simon Fraser... congrats to those who are in, and would appreciate that you turn down the offer soon if you are not considering attending!
