  1. I got accepted as an alternate for the AFLI Tanzania program.
  2. lol I'd cry. i'm so stressed trying to plan my future man :')
  3. Ahhhhhh good luck everyone! I'm so nervous now! But also (since my grad program took a financial hit by sending everyone studying abroad home in light of COVID) my school won't even let us know if we can go abroad in Fall until May 1st... so even if I get it I might not be able to go. I know they said they'd work with students on an individual basis but I'm wondering (if this were to be the case) if they would defer someones admittance to the next year or if you'd need to reapply.
  4. I agree! It just makes the most sense and I hope they do that for the AFLI Gainesville program. Hoping we hear something this week about award decisions but not going to hold my breath.
  5. I received a second budget email (mostly just asking to clarify at-home costs and if I wanted to participate in the internship) and decided not to change my dates since I'm still on the fence about it.
  6. Anyone receive a second budget email? I think I'm going to change my program date to not participate in the optional Spring 2021 AFLI internship but I'm worried it'll adversely affect my chances.
  7. Just received mine this morning and so did my friend for the Ghana AFLI Fellowship!
  8. Hey! I applied to AFLI Tanzania Fellowship! Very anxious to hear results - apparently we'll be receiving budget emails soon! I reached out to Boren and asked about any anticipated impacts of COVID-19 on admission results, this was the email I received: Hi A___, We won’t really know what we will do until sometime this summer. If Tanzania is still looking OK, the Boren will likely go. If the AFLI program is able to go to Tanzania/Mozambique/Senegal then my guess is that would only happen in most U.S. universities allow their students to travel. At this time we are monitoring the events and hope for a good outcome. Not much else we can do for now I’m afraid. I hope that helps but feel free to send any follow-up questions if you have them. We will be sending out information to all applicants mid-April with the results of the selection panels. Cheers, Michael Saffle Boren Awards So nothing surprising or earth shattering but figured I'd share here anyway. Current Boren recipients from my school are apparently being called back, even those stationed in countries that haven't been hit yet...
