  1. I agree that you should let the schools know if you can only attend if your SO is admitted. In my experience they appreciate you telling them so they can get an idea of how likely it is that you can attend (i.e. make other offers) or can put some pressure on the other department to admit your SO. Anyway, it can't hurt you and it might help somebody else.
  2. The subject line really says it all. I think I am going to try and limit it down to three schools to visit, but that is hard because I have to take into account how well my girlfriend fits in at the schools as well. By the way I am assuming the visits are payed for by the school....
  3. They are not going to weed your application out if you email the secretary for an update on your status. I think most people get a rejection when they ask because most people don't email until they know a bunch of other people have been accepted, which makes it highly probable that they have been rejected. A good excuse for emailing them is that you are trying to decide where to visit.
  4. I have a friend who was rejected from somewhere between 8-10 schools (everywhere he applied)..........
  5. Hey, When you are sending your GRE scores, some of the schools I am applying to don't give a department code (Example: At Harvard everything goes through the graduate college so they just give the number (3451).... is it implied that I add the department code that I am applying to?) .
