  1. Have there been any positive results yet? Other than my friend who I noted earlier? Still no results on my end.
  2. Now I think NSERC is reading this thread and fucking with us ?
  3. The results from my friend were good! I wouldn’t look too much into that though.
  4. Results were from a friend (my results yet to be posted, last name “M”). Apparently there is no email notice.
  5. Results apparently posted for last name starts with “A” at least. Mine still not posted.
  6. This is painful lol. There is a perfect amount of specificity/vagueness to drive one nuts. First they say Mid-april, then they send three emails on April 15th telling us how to view the results when they are posted on April 16 before midnight, yet of course, there is no specified time for result posting like there was with the CGSM results. They must really want us all hanging on the edge of our seats. As if productivity wasn't already at an all time low!
  7. Ok this all makes way more sense now. I guess the only downfall to how it is done at dal, is that we do not qualify for CERB as easily as one might at another school!
  8. Our minimum for a PhD student is around 17-18k I believe, although don’t quote me on that. Either way I’m sure it is below 20k. We don’t have to pay our tuition though (which is about 10k) so it is all take home with no taxes. Do you need to pay tuition?
  9. That amazes me. Wow... Yeah, dal has a lot of things going for them in the Chem department, but TAing/labs are not one of them. I choose not to TA extra hours and I have almost ‘served my time’ LOL. It sucks because I love working with students and teaching, but the situation is very unfair to grad students. I know very few in grad school who choose to TA more than their required hours.
  10. For curiosity’s sake, how much an hour do you get, and what school? People have tried to argue this before. I am at dal and we need to complete TA hours as part of our degree requirements, and although there is fulfilment in the job, the labs (for the most part) are structured poorly/out-dated and we are most definitely short-changed for the effort we put in to making sure things run smoothly. If I TA’d the full year (summer included) I would likely be able to make just over 5k, but very few people do this at our school as there are not many summer sections available for those who want to TA to make extra cash.
  11. Wow, not sure what school you go to, but our TA contracts do not get anywhere 10k a year... If that’s the case then you certainly you have an argument.
  12. You have to have made $5000 in the last year to get CERB (outside of the money you take home from scholarships as you noted). Not sure how it works at your school, but at mine there are restrictions to having jobs outside of grad school as it is a full time commitment. Even if it is possible to qualify for the CERB whilst being a grad student on scholarship, I find it very unlikely that the government would reduce the amount of NSERC scholarships given out. For one this would really screw over students, and two, the government has already shown they are willing to throw around money to everyone else who qualifies via the CERB, what makes you think they would suddenly cut funding to grad students?
  13. I seriously doubt the funding cuts due to COVID. If you are receiving NSERC money, it makes you ineligible for the CERB anyways. The CERB (2k/month) actually comes out to more money than the PGSD per month (1750/month) anyways, lol.
  14. I also did not receive this email. Interesting.
