  1. I'd love to chat with any fellow NYU admits who are considering the program! Feel free to DM me as well!
  2. I'm setting up some Zoom calls with POIs at programs I've been accepted to (!!) Would love some advice about the sorts of questions to ask and things to pay attention to when assessing offers!
  3. Not yet! From going through results for last year it doesn't seem like UToronto will be releasing decisions until March? Which Canadian programs did you apply to?
  4. Ahh I see! It does seem though that the acceptances going out have all been informal, so fingers crossed. I didn't actually have an interview, so the process probably varies from field to field and prof to prof
  5. If any of the other NYU admits are here I'd love to chat more about impressions of the program - shoot me a dm if you're down! and @charmsprof - I'm in a different field from you! Similarly to what someone else posted on the acceptances, I also got an unofficial email from poi. Looks like someone got an interview request from NYU just yesterday too, so pieces are probably still moving. Good luck!!
  6. @Imperator Totius HispaniaeI see, thanks for the heads up and good luck with your interview!!
  7. Hi all! I've submitted all but one of my apps for PhD programs and have been reading this thread as I try to quell the anxiety of waiting. Are interviews common for history PhD programs? When I was looking through application FAQs only two or three schools specifically mention not offering interviews, the majority didn't mention it at all.
  8. Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster :) I've accepted an offer to do a 1 year history masters in the UK this upcoming academic year and am hoping to apply for PhD programs during the program so that I'd be able to start my PhD the year after that. (First off, is that crazy? I'm 4 years out of undergrad and the prospect of being in my mid/late 30s upon PhD graduation is a little daunting, so I'm trying to speed up the process.) I'm really interested in UToronto's history program, especially in the Diaspora history concentration (can't remember if that's exactly what they call it) but saw that there was a masters GPA requirement for entrance into the PhD. As I won't even have first semester grades at the time of applying to PhD programs, would it still be possible for me to apply? (My undergrad GPA falls short of their undergrad GPA requirement for applicants going straight into the PhD after their BA.) I've sent email inquiries to the admissions email at the UToronto history department but never heard back, if anyone was in a similar position and has some insight I'd appreciate it!
