  1. Not at all! Feel free to ask anything. For Queen's both were academic letters. I had a good relationship with both where I worked for one as an RA and the other also witnessed my academic growth for the last 3 years of my undergrad. I believe at Queen's it is a requirement that your letters are from professors that know you.
  2. Thank you! My marks were honestly not ideal but the rest of my application made up for it. CGPA: 2.7 L2: 3.4, two years RAship, bunch of extracurriculars and paid jobs on campus and the legislature. My letter of recommendations were strong as well. I did graduate in 2017 though - got in the OPS right away and have been in two different roles so far. I was accepted into Waterloo's MPS and oddly rejected by Ryerson lol. Let me know if you have any questions, happy to answer!
  3. Hi. Congrats on your offer! I'm going to Queen's as well. Yes, another student created a facebook group recently - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1462701384075066 or search Queen's MPA Class of 2022. See you there
  4. Congratulations! That's wonderful. All the best at York
  5. I haven't compared them in detail but I'm sure the core required courses are more or less similar. I guess it's the available electives that might matter for special interests. I'm mainly looking forward to Queen's co-op and it's strengths with OPS connections. Also, apparently the program always has policy job postings listed internally for students to apply to. Send me a DM if you wanna discuss this stuff! Always interested in hearing what others think.
  6. Yeah, Ryerson takes their time unfortunately. The first time I applied to Ryerson was for fall 2019 and people received acceptances later than other schools (I think?). Can't remember exactly when but that thread should be on this forum. I got my rejection late April myself - should've applied to other schools that year lol. Hope you get some good news soon! The wait is almost over..
  7. Congratulations!! Probably not if I'm being honest. I just haven't been able to pull the trigger yet haha but I'm pretty much set on Queen's in my mind. Are you waiting on Ryerson? I think they're both great schools. It comes down to Ryerson being 2k cheaper in tuition, Queen's slightly better co-op (especially with federal service), and how much funding you get from each school. Plus I could use a change of scenery from Toronto lol.
  8. Oops! I didn't get any notifications and completely forgot I made this thread ? I still haven't heard back from Ryerson but congratulations to those that got offers! Very happy for y'all. I got accepted into Waterloo's MPS and Queen's MPA. Still waiting on Ryerson but I'll likely be accepting my offer to Queen's.
  9. Folks, do people still make Facebook Class of ____ groups? I haven't been on Facebook since I graduated in 2017 but I'd like to connect with others that are planning to attend Queen's MPA. Or where else do grad students congregate online lol?
  10. Thank you! I submitted my application in December, and so did two of my academic references. My employer submitted theirs in February though. There's still rest of today and tomorrow, hope you hear back as well ?
  11. Congratulations!! Right there with you. I'll probably be choosing Queen's for the 15k cost difference. I did like Waterloo's structure and co-op opportunities though ?
  12. Omfg. Literally after my post here I got an offer from Queen's MPA as well. Brb crying
  13. Congrats to all the people that have gotten offers so far!! I just received an unofficial offer from Waterloo's MPS . Hoping to hear back from Ryerson and Queen's as well.
  14. Thanks for the answers BTF. Really appreciate it. Cheers.
  15. Hi BTF, Thanks for the thread and all the info you're sharing! I have two questions if you don't mind answering. 1) I'm assuming the more relevant the writing sample is, the more it helps with my overall application? Would you agree? For example, I'd choose to submit my term paper from my class on federalism vs. constitution/charter. 2) My understand of the program structure is Fall 2021 - Winter 22 are study terms, Summer 22 is a work term, and then you're left with 1x study term and 1x work term. If that is correct, do you agree that it would be better to study in Fall of 22 and then work Winter 23 in order to have an easier time to be bridged to a full time job offer? Or is there a better route? I should add that I'm interested in working for the federal service. Thanks so much. Cheers.
