  1. Hey guys! I've applied to a PhD program at NUS for 2021/22 and received this following email. Do you think it's safe to say that this mean I've been accepted, or is it merely indicating that the process is far from over? This school has always been my dream destination, and the suspense of waiting for the result is killing me... Dear Mr ~, I am pleased to inform you that you have made the initial shortlist for admission with Research Scholarship to the graduate program at the ~ NUS. This offer is subject to final approval from the Faculty. In this regard, please arrange for the documents listed in the checklist to be sent to us. The documents should reach us at the following address a month from the date of this email. (address) Do note that unless you are a NUS student, your transcript(s) should be sent to us directly from your university. Assuming your application package is received by the deadline, you will receive the final outcome of your application, confirmed by the Faculty, latest by April 2021. If we do not receive your application package by the deadline, we will assume you are no longer interested in being considered for the program and your application will be deemed withdrawn. Thank you.
  2. Hey guys! I applied for a PhD in Urban Planning and Development at USC last November but still haven' heard a single news on the current admission process, let alone an interview invitation. I'm honestly getting really anxious, especially seeing how some of the PhD applicants in other departments have already received offers. Anyone here got any updates??
  3. Are there any fellow applicants hoping to pursue a PhD program at the National University of Singapore 2021/22? I've applied for a PhD in Geography and had my admission interview in November. I still haven't received any updates on the admission evaluation since then. What about you?
  4. I've been invited to admission interviews from UCLA, NUS and USC so far and the majority of the interview questions revolved around 1. feasibility of the research, 2. methodologies, 3. logical basis & significance of the research and 4. my talents & skills & experiences related to the research. Thinking back, all the three interviews were basically to uncover how much of a potent researcher I am and how prepared I am in conducting the proposed research. You seem to have a quite solid research interest, so as long as you elaborate it well to the committee members, you'd be fine.
  5. Hey guys! I've applied for a PhD program overseas and I'm still waiting for the admission results to come out. The thing is, I was offered an interim internship opportunity which will last until late August next year. Not knowing by no latter than when I'm expected to be at the University to join the lab in case I get accepted, I'm really uncertain of whether I should accept the internship offer or not. Do you think it would be too ludicrous if I asked my POI for his advice regarding this matter? In other words, will it be too preposterous to ask him if I could join the team in late August in case I get accepted, even when the admission results are not yet available? The internship offer is to be either accepted or rejected by no later than this Friday, so it's kinda urgent. What do you guys think?
