Lol, whose heart just dropped when a faculty from UNC mentioned they go through completed applications each week and have already sent out invites to people whom they liked. That's brutal.

Spoke with PIs in the program and they don't think there will really be time for any real 1on1 sort of interactions. Maybe some questions at the end, but thats all.

Anyone who has been invited to UGA's interview day on the 22nd been given any idea of a timeline or if its going to be all day?

Ah, AH for me. Yeah, thats what this website has seemed to indicate so far. Still haven't heard from 8/9 programs that were due on Dec 1st or earlier, this is gonna get bumpy.

Is it cool if you gave out the initials of your PI at UGA? I've already contacted mine and we spoke briefly about a month ago. They must also have gotten a huge amount of applications this year too, I don't envy them.

Just recieved an email from University of Florida EdS program that I was not selected for an interview. However, the email and wording was pretty strange. It read that I was not offered an initial interview, but that it explicitly said that did not mean I was not qualified for this or any other program. They had recieved a lot more applications than normal. I was also not rejected, and I may get an interview at a later date when they could bring in the next tier of qualified candidates in April. They didn't require a GRE, and my GPA is 3.9, letters should be outstanding, and I'm a strong writer as far as the personal statement goes. I emailed to follow up. Can anyone tell me what's going on with the process this year? This is kind of disconcerting to say the least.

2 of the schools I have applied to have emailed me today saying they are closing for the holidays and will resume processing and sending out decisions Jan 4th. Looks like it's gonna be another 2 weeks to have some closure or more. Sounds like they just had a lot more apply than normal, that's my gut feeling. Time for me to think about applying to 4-5 more EdS programs as contingency plans.

The thing is we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. Some reports say applications are up, some say they'll be historically down. The thing I know for sure is a lot of the processing and such is being done remote and virtually, and most of the processors are working from home so it's not a typical cycle. Schools due on Dec 1st will hopefully start sending invites out before they break for the holidays, but with interviews almost assuredly being remote too, they have some wiggle. I am also terrified of not getting in this cycle because my job is a nightmare and if I don't get back to school I'm going to have to change gears and move on from psych. Gotta have some faith.

Hey y'all, here's where I applied to this cycle. UNC Chapel Hill PhD Winthrop EdS Western Carolina EdS Georgia State EdS Georgia Southern Eds UGA PhD UF EdS FSU PhD FSU EdS Already contacted PI at FSU and UGA and got very positive responses. I have been asked to join a lab already regardless of where I end up and another program across the country has shown interest and so I'll probably apply there too. I have not heard back from anywhere yet, and every single one of my applications is 100% finished. I'm assuming this is the week invites will go out, but who knows with COVID.
