I applied this cycle but haven't heard anything yet

I had a similar experience. I was planning on medical school until a month before I finished my undergrad. I took A LOT of science classes and had really convinced myself that I wasn't going to be financially successful if I didn't become a doctor. Maybe that's true, and some days I still have doubts. But I think it's also true that you regret more the things you don't do than the things you do, and in @tippybug's case this could be a good time to think how he/she will feel a few decades from now if they don't give their writing a fair chance at success. That's my thought process, at least, and most of the time I'm comforted knowing that medical school isn't going anywhere even if I wait for another five years to pack up and go. In the meantime I'm throwing myself into my writing with full force, because if there's even a small chance I could be the 'one in a million' who lives off of their writing, I want that life most. Sorry about the length, but you're not alone!

I was in a similar situation with one of my letter writers. I got in touch with the individual schools and they were able to give me some reassurance and advice. Maybe try reaching out? I sort of feel like they may be a bit more lenient because of covid so it doesn't hurt to call

HOORAY!!! Enjoy your well-deserved celebration!

Also now remembering I sent an SOS email to Syracuse (whose staff got back to me quickly and were trying to help me brainstorm) and Texas (which had an unhelpful robot send me a form email a while later) because the letters were past deadline. Thankfully it all turned out ?

One of my letter writers was AWOL for so long I got worried she had COVID and started searching the interweb for articles about 'beloved professor, gone too soon.' Long story short, she was just really behind on grading and was very gracious about the many (many) follow up emails I sent to her. After all the letters were in I sent a handwritten thank you note that I hope makes up for the hassle! So I guess moral of this story is harass if you have to lol

P.S. Did any of you guys apply to Purdue? It looks like their acceptances usually come out the last week of January and I'm having a nail-biter of a time lol.

Feels like I've been living this month a whole year already lol. It's been a looonnnnggg two weeks. I hope some of these schools start notifying soon or I'm going to lose my mind. ?

Hi all! I've been lurking over the weekend and just wanted to wish everyone a happy Monday! This wait is unbelievably tedious and I'm glad we're all hanging on together
-
This was cool! I once met a young woman in a hostel who had quit basically her whole life to lead weekend-long Ayahuasca 'ceremonies'. She said vomiting was normal lol...definitely makes you wonder how long it would take to realize something was amiss - interesting to see your take on it!
-
I'm done! Although one of my letter writers is REALLY taking her time which is driving me up the wall. Congrats on the typewriter - that's the coolest!

Exactly! And is anyone still struggling with duplicate posting? Not sure what I'm doing wrong lol

On the off chance you're actually an applicant, this seems like an odd way to interact with potential future classmates. Supposing some of us get into the same program, do you really want people walking into the first day of class wondering who of their peers was that asshole from gradcafe? Seems like a weird way to start, man. Also do you really not have anything better to do? I know it's covid and everything but this just seems really sad...

Hi everyone! Thought it might be time to toss my hat into the ring after watching from the sidelines for a few weeks. I'm 24, from CA (what's up peeps?!), and this is my first application cycle. I have almost certainly overdone it by applying to 16 schools but I'm very anxious about the odds and since the trip I was planning for October did not happen thanks to covid I had some extra funds to throw at applications. Nice to meet you all
