  1. A simple piece of advice: start early. I'm happy I started my applications early and my profs got to review all of my SOP drafts before I sent them in
  2. You should narrow it down enough to show you have focus. For example, in mine I'm going to talk about archaeology, Finland (my main focus), and gender,
  3. Good to know! I'm probably overthinking this a bit due to stress. Thank you for your response:)
  4. Hi, everyone! I have two questions:) 1. Does anyone here have experience with transitioning from an "anthropology adjacent" field to anthro? Did this cause any issues for you? Do you have any tips on how to talk about this kind of transition in an SOP? Note: I've done two field schools and have published a single-authored, peer-reviewed archaeology article, but my B.A. and current M.A programs are in history. I've been taking a few archaeology classes, but I'm still nervous about applying alongside students with BAs and/or MAs in anthropology. I feel like I won't be able to "compete" 2. I'm looking for competitive anthro programs with a medieval archaeologist who preferably focuses on northwestern Europe (especially the British Isles) and/or gender. So far, Notre Dame, William and Mary, Northwestern, and Cornell have caught my eye. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
