I am a UT Austin undergrad and they just sent me this "We will discuss your application to the PhD program in chemical engineering at UT with you in March. In the meantime, we want to encourage you to continue to diversify your career opportunities beyond UT as we want you to have a wide variety of choices for your next steps as you approach graduation. Please keep us posted of any other schools that you get admitted to and let us know if your interest in our program changes at any point throughout this process." I took it as a positive thing but they really don't like people staying. I'll try to make my case cause I really like the program
