  1. Hi all, I wanted to start a thread for the upcoming application cycle for EE. I want to start making my list of schools, but honestly I have no idea how competitive I am and which programs/schools are competitive since US News only gives like the top 10 in EE and I do not know of any other reliable resources to go to for that information. If someone could direct me to the right resources and help me make a good list I would really appreciate it. A Little about me: I completed my BE and MSE in Environmental Engineering at the same institution which is a mid-tier program at a public university in Florida. BE GPA 3.1 MSE GPA 3.5 I am going to have three really strong rec letters from my thesis advisor, my program director (who taught me multiple courses at undergrad and grad level), and another full professor who taught me multiple courses. All three were on my thesis committee. I have one second author publication in a mid tier hydrology journal Between my BE and MSE, I spent three years working as a high school science teacher. I spent a year and a half working in a wastewater treatment research lab during my master's which is also my thesis lab.
  2. Well, I do not see the point of visiting after you have already accepted the offer. I was planning on visiting to help me make a final decision.
  3. Hello, I was wondering if you talked to schools about reimbursing the cost to visit. I am planning to visit my top 3. I am pretty sure schools will know the cost to visit them can be a lot for some students. I am just wondering if it would be a reasonable request.
  4. Get a good night sleep, eat well, do something first thing in the morning before your interview like reading a newspaper or running, hopefully by now you've tested your internet connection/zoom to make sure there are no tech issues the day of. Also remember if they invited you for an interview, it is because they are already thinking about offering you admission, good luck!
  5. I would fly out to the top 3-4 schools that interest you the most. It might take about a 10-14 days and it might be difficult to coordinate, but so far with all the schools I have interviewed with have told me it might be a good idea to visit on your own if you can
  6. Does anyone know if schools will email you to let you know you've not been invited for an interview or will you just have to go to your app page to find out?
