  1. Has anyone heard back from UCLA's PhD in Community Health Sciences program? I know someone had gotten accepted a few weeks ago, but was wondering if anyone else has heard anything from them! Same goes for UCI's PhD in Public Health program - anyone hear back from them? Thanks!

    Updated-

    This is for Ph.D. programs

    Accepted: BU (interviewed), NYU (interviewed)

Pending decisions: UCLA (interviewed), USC (no interview)

    Rejected: Emory (interviewed)

Anyone heard back from UCLA CHS and USC HBR yet? I'm seeing few acceptance for those two programs in the results page, so I'm just waiting for a rejection.

    Hi there,

I was accepted into USC's HBR program in the end of January, but have yet to hear back from UCLA's CHS program! I heard UCLA is going to send out more decisions this month.

Wishing you the best of luck! I hope you get into your program of choice.

  3. Just got my first rejection letter from Emory's PhD in BSHES program less than an hour ago. Needless to say, having my first decision be a rejection surely stings a bit, but regardless, I'm trying to keep my head up and stay optimistic. More than anything, this whole application process has taught me to be more patient, kind, and understanding with myself. My mentality is that although this program didn't see that "special something" in me, perhaps the next one will. ?

As cliché as it is - I believe we will all end up where we were meant to end up! Sending good vibes and best wishes to everyone else here anxiously awaiting their decisions. Remember that we are all capable, hard-working, and determined individuals with our own unique contributions to make to the field of public health! Hang in there, everyone!

Got an offer to interview for Emory's BSHE program! For anyone who's wondering, their virtual visit days are 2/3-2/9 this year.

Congratulations on the interview! I was wondering if you would be comfortable sharing your stats? I also applied to the BSHE program, am waiting to hear back still.

I have no way of knowing what it is like at other schools, but an administrator told current students at HSPH that apps are up 50% for the entire Population Health Sciences PhD program. More than 800 applications for ~45 seats.

Wow, that's a HUGE increase! ? Really makes me wonder what the stats are for the schools I applied to as well. Thank you!

Last year I recieved my interview invite on January 21st. Also, this year applications are up >50%, so the recruitment process could take longer than usual. But, I honestly don't know.

Are applications up 50% in general for all schools, or were you just referring to this specific program? I've actually been very curious as to how this pandemic has affected the number of applicants in PhD programs overall, so your post really grabbed my attention!

  7. How has everyone been coping with the post-applying, pre-decision anxiety? I'm still waiting on a decision from my top school, and have gotten into an awful habit of checking my e-mail way too often (even on the weekends and on holidays!). Was just wondering how you all are dealing with this anxiety during this time?

Wishing everyone the best of luck! ?

Good luck to us. I’m playing the waiting game since March 2019 ??‍♀️

First I applied to the MS in Applied Biostats and Epi... got a letter saying that it’s better for me to apply to the PhD program. Kind of worries about my undergrad GPA it is 3.2 I also have an MPH (GPA is 3.7) .... both from abroad. No publications. Didn’t take the GRE.

Can i ask about your stats?))

I hope you get some (positive) answers soon! I have a 3.2 undergrad GPA too, 4.0 Master's GPA. I took the GRE and scored 156v/155q/5.0analytical writing. Also worried about my undergrad GPA as well, but hopefully they see the improvement in our GPA's over time. ? Trying to remain optimistic!

Hi, I also applied to USC's HBR, but I haven't received any updates yet. Kind of anxious now ?

Same here! ? But from what I've heard, USC tends to send out the acceptances for this program in waves. I believe they only started reviewing applications this week. Hoping for the best for us!
