Hi all -- I have been admitted to the MPP with a full-ride (no additional stipend and no named fellowship, though I am an "alternate" for one). I will be turning down the offer today and I hope others also make their decisions quickly to help those on the waitlist.

I'm sharing the above mostly to remind everyone, whether they got in or not, that HKS is an amazing school that will unlock phenomenal opportunities but it is not the best fit for everyone! There's lot to like but also lots to be aware of. ?

Thanks for sharing! Curious why you're turning down HKS and where you're doing instead, and what factors you were aware of?

  2. anyone get into the MPP with impact investing background? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth reapplying next year as I just got rejected.

My stats - 164Q 166V, 5 years experience (2 at a leading US foundation, then 3 living in an emerging market on the management team of a fintech startup with leading equity investors), 3.6 GPA from top ~2 private US university

  3. Program Applied To (MPA, MPP, IR, etc.):  MPP/MPA
Schools Applied To:  HKS, Harris, Wagner, SPIA
    Schools Admitted To:  Harris ($$)
    Schools Rejected From:
    Still Waiting:
    HKS, Wagner, SPIA
Undergraduate Institution: Top 2 private university
    Undergraduate GPA:   3.60
    Undergraduate Major: Public Policy
    GRE Quantitative/Verbal/AW Scores:  166V / 164Q / 5.0
Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable):  4.5
    Years of Work Experience:  4.5
Describe Relevant Work Experience:  2 years in philanthropy, remaining in impact investing in emerging markets
Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc):  Maybe 8.5/10
Strength of LOR's (be honest, describe the process, etc):  8/10
    Other:

  4. Slightly seperate question - bringing this thread back - but I'm curious how much people attempted to save before going to grad school? Thinking about the tradeoff of waiting another year to increase savings vs. taking on more debt
