I have an interview for BU painting next week

Has anyone heard from Bard and Hunter?

Same. I saw people getting interviews at risd and calarts but I haven’t heard a thing. I saw from the last year’s thread that risd does not interview everyone accepted but I’m not sure about calarts. I also have an interview with saic! Good luck

What department? I saw on this thread that some people got interview invite from RISD painting. I haven’t heard anything from them. They don’t interview everyone who gets accepted though

It says “Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a video introduction. We would very much like to meet you and since this would be impossible in practical terms, we ask that you send a brief video introducing yourself” on their website. It’s not required.

I did. But I’m not sure if that will replace the interview since those videos are supposed to be very short (I think mine was around 90 seconds). When I applied a few years ago, I heard from them on feb 26th

No. I was prompted to schedule the interview for feb 24th, 25th, and 26th.

I studied painting and so did my friends. Saic is great but it’s really expensive. I received a good amount of scholarship from saic but I’m in debt just like everyone else who went there. Just wanted to add that I do recommend going to saic as long as they give you enough money. I applied there for the mfa painting and have an interview as well. But I don’t think I will be going there unless they cover most of my tuition.

I did my undergrad at SAIC. I have some friends who did MFA Painting there

Not yet. It seems like Bard sends out interview invitations around feb 12th? I’m not sure though

I applied to a bunch of schools. Yale, Bard, Columbia, Hunter, BU, SAIC, Tyler, CalArts, and UCLA. I already had an interview for Tyler and have an interview for SAIC in a couple of weeks.

I'll keep my fingers crossed! I got my BFA in 2016, so it's been 5 years since I graduated. It is my second time applying. What schools other than RISD did you apply to if you don't mind me asking?

Do you know if they send rejection letters soon after the interview invitations? I didn't get an email from them so I'm guessing I am rejected.

I had an interview for Tyler painting. The entire faculty was present and they asked basic questions as @kiddroy said. They also asked questions like “How are you conveying your ideas in your work?”, “What is the purpose of using ~(material)?”, “Can you tell us more about ~(a sentence in the statement of purpose/artist statement)”, “What have you been doing after you got your bfa?”. I hope this helps a little.

I also got an interview invitation via email yesterday from SAIC Painting and Drawing. I had an interview with Tyler last weekend and still waiting on 8 more schools. Good luck everyone!

I got an invitation email in early February last time I applied. I think it was around Feb 10th

I had an interview for Tyler Painting yesterday. I don’t think I did very well. I got too nervous but the faculty was very friendly. I’m still waiting to hear from Yale, Columbia, UCLA, SAIC, RISD, Bard, BU, Hunter, and CalArts.
