  1. Well that's a productive way to repurpose tarot. But when I hear tarot I usually assume people are talking about fortune telling.
  2. I don't even understand what was so controversial about your comment lol. You just gave an example of someone performing scam artistry using tarot.
  3. People I know actually pay for tarot when they're in distress and it's all bs lol
  4. Once again: if you do tarot, that's cool. Personally I think tarot is a bullshit scam more often than not. It preys on people's insecurities. If you disagree, that's totally okay but there's no reason to be hurt by what another person thinks.
  5. I don't even know who the hell Marshall Gustavman is.
  6. I'm not that guy dude. And I was saying it just to be sassy, I didn't actually mean to diminish tarot followers. Once again, I am sorry but I think you're taking this a bit too personally.
  7. I'm sorry to disappoint but I just made this account like a month ago. You have the wrong guy. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, I was just being a bit sassy.
  8. I only have one account. I personally think tarot is bogus, I don't know why this offends you so much but I'm sorry if it did.
  9. Plot twist: the one who downvoted earns his money through scamming people with tarot.
  10. Lol so you're gunna try to ban me for saying that I don't think tarot is legitimate? You're either a troll or sensitive to the touch.
  11. Tarot is such bullshit. If I offended anyone, I'm not sorry.
  12. Lmao have you been on the internet before? In my experience there is no shortage of energy-leeching trolls.
  13. Do you guys realize that trolls can post fake acceptances just to fuck with ya'll
  14. What sort of factors came into play when winnowing down the final ten down to three? Did it have to do with how well the writing suited the aesthetic of the journal?
  15. Damn if the acceptance rate is so ridiculously low it's hard for me to believe they take writers based solely on the quality of writing sample...because once you narrow down the application pool from 700 to 15, the difference in quality between those 15 is probably negligible. It would be cool if they gave you a ranking, so that if you missed the cut by a bit at least you'd know you were close to the top of the pile rather than the bottom.
  16. What are the average acceptance rates for programs on par with Vanderbilt/Cornell? Like .5%-1%?
  17. Damn your children are Welch's fiends...
  18. https://www.buzzfeed.com/alexanderchee/my-parade Alexander Chee wrote a pretty good article about the fiction MFA. So did George Saunders https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/my-writing-education-a-timeline ...and T.C. Boyle https://www.tcboyle.com/author/essay.html
  19. Was the movie "Bad Teacher"? The one where a middle-school teacher siphons money from school fundraisers to invest in a boob job in the hope that Justin Timberlake will wife her...
  20. I'm anxious because I'm proud of my writing sample and it makes me suspicious that there must be something wrong with it that I can't see. When I was in high school, whenever I thought I got an A on a test I would end up getting a B and whenever I thought I flat-out failed a test I'd end up getting an A. Weird paradox: feeling insecurity makes me feel secure. When I don't feel insecure, I feel even more insecure...if that makes any sense.
  21. Me when people try to stroke my ego
  22. I'm 21 and graduating from my local state school this year and I'm facing the opposite of what you had to. All my friends are in their thirties and have to deal with things like marriage, children, etc. which all seem like alien territory to me. I go to a commuter school, so a lot of people there tend to be older than the average college student.
  23. How does the admissions process even work? Do the faculty members read our work or do volunteering TA's read our work? Are the decisions reached by consensus or do separate people choose the admitted? I'm assuming that there is like a first screening where all the totally unqualified applicants are siphoned out based on not meeting length, GPA, or other reqs... So many questions.
  24. Yeah but I feel like every year the notification dates change. This year they could come out earlier.
