Not to sound unappreciative, but I don't understand the scholarship situations at a lot of these schools. I applied to Columbia hoping I'd be one of the few who gets full funding (delusions of grandeur and whatnot), but with the 20k scholarship I can't help but think... if I can't afford 60k per year, then I still likely can't afford 40k... How many people do they actually get to pay that much?? ?

I was accepted in to Columbia for fiction last Saturday. I also posted to the draft. This is my only acceptance this season--unless I get in at UBoston, which I'm doubting. I was offered a scholarship of 20k, but I believe that is my only funding offer. I'll likely have to reject and go for my PhD offer, but still stoked to get in somewhere this round

Seriously wigging out. No response from NYU yet for me. I wonder if it means I'm... not rejected??? So far I'm 3r/0a/5p, but of those 5 pending is NYU and IWW, which I was assuming meant rejection. I've heard nothing good about the NYU waitlist, but it would really improve my spirits to not get straight r's this season.

On another note, this morning while I was at work I got a call from an unknown number and got so excited! Unfortunately, my work is uh... posing naked for art classes, and I was mid-pose, so I missed the call. When I tried calling back later, I didn't get a response. I'm assuming it wasn't an MFA program, but oh, I wish it was... How funny would it be if I got the call while standing naked in front of a bunch of art students??

NYU rejections seem to be going out... Not really ready for this!!!

oooohhhhhh I'm not ready to get mine T____T ? I foolishly had a sliver of hope that one of my recommenders being an IWWW alumn would help my chances a little bit, if my writing sample was up to par. I feel guilty saying that, though, because obviously I want to get in on my writing merits, and I don't want any unfair advantages, but that being said... I still hoped just a smidge... ?? (Hope that isn't unprofessional to say). Ever since Marshall's last account Sally quoted the statistic about "80% of people not being good enough to even have any business applying to MFA programs" I can't help but wonder if I'm in that 80%. Not that there is necessarily any truth ot that statistic, and it was rude of them to bring up, but now I can't stop thinking about it. Cue.... my insecurities!!!

I'm right there with ya. I'm not super happy with what I'm doing career wise... I want to run away elsewhere and be a writer. That is all. Even if we don't get in anywhere, I hope our situations still change for the better. Or if we end up in the same program, we can smoke together :') ❤️

Anybody else see that University of Iowa rejection in the results page...? That's IWWW right? I thought they sent rejections by snail mail...

How many IWWW fiction acceptances have there been so far? I've only seen one, and I've heard they're delayed and getting out the calls slow, but then I see some people claiming that they think IWWW is done with acceptances... Not sure which to believe!

Anyone wanna tell me what the chances are of ANY of these schools getting results out this month? I applied to UVA, Cornell, Brown, NYU, Columbia, Boston University, and IWW... I was thinking mid-Feb would be more exciting but I'm beginning to realize that I don't think anywhere I applied will get back any sooner than mid-March. EDIT: I'm losing my mind now that IWW is saying mid-March BTW

I didn't apply to Maryland, but knowing that Iowa is also way behind and won't be notifying until March is sooo disheartening. I wonder how many programs this is true of? UGH... I'm curious BTW; what made you decide to apply to Maryland? I'm scouting out schools for my next round of MFA apps (though fingers crossed that all of us get in this round). I'm seeing so many programs that hadn't been on my radar til now.

LOL I just got an email to my university email account from Northeastern Graduate Admissions and about lost my shit thinking it was an admissions response... Full on felt my heart sink... I didn't even apply to Northeastern, and I certainly didn't apply with my school email!! They were just advertising their CS masters program to me...
