Does anyone have any insight to what the USC Roski MFA program is like now? Have they recovered at all? I'm trying to find out by searching online but all of the articles are from 2015/2016. Does anyone know anything or know somebody who is there now?

Oh wow, I had never heard that about SAIC before. Definitely puts my mind at ease. Do you happen to know if they were talking about if the department is just like that or if it is like that just for the interview?

I interviewed for photo but one of the questions I was asked that i didn't expect was which other schools I applied to and had to kind of defend why I applied to them in addition to SAIC. They mostly focused on one project I had submitted as part of my portfolio and asked a lot of really detailed questions about it and proposed hypotheticals and had me respond to them. Thats just for photo so idk what theyll ask for art/tech but Good Luck! Relax and you'll do great!

Yah it was so weird. What department did you interview for? I interviewed for photography and had two professors and one grad student and one professor was really grilling me most of the time and it was low key argumentative. I did not expect it at all

wow, just had my interview with SAIC and it felt like I was having to aggressively defend my work the entire time. It was a weird/unexpected vibe. Did anyone else have this experience?

If you look on their YouTube channel, they have posted videos of the virtual open houses they did for this round of applications. At least for the photography dept they talked about how the interviews will be conducted remotely and that nobody will be at the school to look at your physical work during your interview so they said not to send anything. They also said that since you will not be showing physical work that you would possibly have an opportunity to show more work than usual if you would like to. I would check out the video for the dept you applied for and see what they say! Good luck with your interview!!

Does anyone know anything about the USC Roski MFA Art program? I know it had a drop in rank/prestige a few years ago. I applied as one of my backups and I don't know anything about their process. The slideroom/portfolio part of the app was due mid january but the other part was due feb 1st (or maybe the other way around...I can't remember right now) so I am not expecting a response right now but I was just wondering if anyone knows if they even interview?

I received an invitation to interview for photo this morning for SAIC. Still waiting on other schools though!
