  1. What subfield at Duke? If you do decide to turn down Duke and go with Michigan, could you please post on this forum? (Waitlisted candidate here).
  2. I haven't seen any CP admits from Michigan yet either, but if I'm mistaken please correct me!
  3. I've heard Cornell has relatively weak quantitative training but great folks doing mixed methods/qualitative work. That's changing now though, with Tom Pepinsky and Bryn Rosenfeld etc.
  4. Rejected from Berkeley as well. There goes my dream school. 1a/2w/2r/8p
  5. @BrownSugar Glad to hear you got accepted into UChicago - it's a great school with some incredible faculty, especially if you are interested in authoritarian politics/political economy of dev/theory. To echo some of the other people on this thread I would strongly consider going there if your final choices is USC vs UChicago, only because as much as 'fit' matters, you ultimately have to optimize for prestige if the job market is an outcome that is important to you. Not to discourage you in any way from USC, I'm sure it's a great program, it is just unfortunate how clubby/ranking-obsessed academia can be. P.S - I say this knowing only too well that Chicago can be cold and brutal and SoCal is beautiful and warm.
  6. Still haven't heard any waitlists from Michigan. Have anyone from CP claimed a Michigan admit? Maybe they really cut their cohort short this year or I'm naively holding out hope to return to the midwest.
  7. So Michigan, Chicago, Berkeley and MIT have all released acceptances? No MIT claims here in the forum yet. Haven't seen any Michigan waitlists either.
  8. Historically speaking, how many people get an admission off a waitlist at a top-10 program? Asking because I have no clue about how this waitlist process works.
  9. Nope, no other email. I'm waitlisted in CP. I know someone in the PE/FQ track that got a similar email from the director of the Research program in PE. What subfield are you in and which prof. emailed you?
  10. One of the POIs I have known now for a while told me that they received ~600 applications (last year was 300-350) and have cut down their cohort from 22 to 8. So yes that's like an 83% reduction in the chance of getting into Chicago. It's nuts.
  11. Any Berkeley waitlistees here? Please claim if so!
  12. I'm curious - did they mention the stats for this year in their acceptance email? And what time the acceptance email come in?
  13. Congratulations!! My dream school, so I think I can effectively count it out now.
  14. I was also not interviewed but have been waitlisted.
  15. Claiming a Duke waitlist as well (or as they call it an "alternate list"). Political economy subfield. 1a/2w/1r/9p
  16. Thanks! The offer letter said something like last year the stipend was 29500$ but it's likely to be more than that this year.
  17. Claiming an NYU admit! CP. So excited and relieved. 1a/1w/1r/10p
  18. Hi it looks like you and I have applied to the exact same list of programs (and have the exact same decisions at this time haha!). Was curious what your research focus area + background is - I've heard the waitlist is highly need-based by subfield/focus. Good luck to us all!
  19. Also claiming a waitlist at Princeton in CP. Congrats to all admitted! Given how tough this cycle is looking, I don't think a waitlist will likely result in an admission, but glad to be considered to a great program.
