  1. I am also eagerly waiting to hear from someone. I don't see the country I applied to having any issues so I'm like pleeeassssee universe...
  2. Is this because Flagship people have pressure to decide? That's a really good point I hadn't considered. I guess most people probably won't attend the summer portion and then drop out.
  3. Yeah if any alternates are promoted it'll likely be done through email. Not the portal. Always nice to have a proof of the app though.
  4. I absolutely think they will think about this if someone declines. Otherwise they will likely have similar issues. It will be easier to promote someone who can go without issues.
  5. Yes to this! I also reached out a bit and gathered the same especially for Flagship programs. Someone needs to drop out of a Flagship program for a Flagship alternate to get an offer.
  6. See this is what I don't understand about the award with COVID. If people accept by May 2nd but then decline knowing their country is a no-go (there will likely be many...) I'm wondering whether the funding frees up.
  7. Oh man! So sorry! That must be frustrating. Did you apply to a Flagship? You really never know with these things.
  8. Wait, so you won last year but you're an alternate this year?
  9. Oh wow! That's right! University Boren representatives have access to that information. Maybe I'll reach out to my school's person to see if they can give me any thoughts. Thank you
  10. How do you know only 2 out of 6 people from your program were accepted? Is there a site with this information? I would love to check out the program I applied to! Currently an alternate (ahhhhh! hahaha!). I'm not sure I understood your third point about Stanford.
  11. You're right. Alternates to the overall program. Confusing with the flagship programs though.
  12. What makes you say this? Because everyone is tired of being home?
  13. Thanks for the positive vibes. I will not plan my life around this but my bags are ready to go just in case. I imagined there being alternates per country but the way you put it makes way more sense. I bet it's more on a case-by-case basis. Fit is important. Will absolutely update when they respond. I also reached out to the university representative. Are you also an alternate?
  14. Thanks so much for this. It seems like some countries have so few people every year which concerned me. I applied to a country where they send very few fellows. What do you mean by "applicants behind in the line?" I emailed Boren about this to see what's up so I'll update when they respond.
  15. Alternate to the Fellowship program. Does anybody know if we are alternates to the entire Boren program, to the country we applied to, and/or some combination of both on a case by case basis? Congrats to everyone who was accepted and best of luck to alternates and everyone applying next year. Cheers!
