I'm still waiting on Toronto! I'm 99% percent certain it's a rejection, since I never got an interview & acceptances were sent out over a month ago, but it still should not be taking this long...
...Maybe the decisions/admissions process is different for me since I am an American applying to a Canadian school and/or because I applied to the Mediterranean Archaeology Collaborative Specialization (MACS)?
Gotcha, thanks. I applied to the PhD Archaeology specialization, and reached out to a POI about 3 weeks ago about the timeline, who simply said that someone should be in touch with me soon. I saw some Classics PhD interviews & admissions posted as early as the end of January, and I'd like to think that the reason that they haven't sent out my decision yet is because the archaeology specialization follows a different timeline, rather than that they simply are deciding to wait an additional month and a half to send out rejection notices....
Has it been everyone experiences that most interview requests for any given program are usually all sent out on the same day? So i.e. for Toronto, Harvard, & Cincinnati, if I haven't heard anything yet, I unlikely to receive an interview request?
May I ask:
1) Did you get the email today?
2) Did you apply from the US or Canada, or another country?
3) Did you apply to a specific specialization within the Classics dept. i.e. the Mediterranean Archaeology Collaborative Specialization (MACS)?
Okay, thanks for the info! Admittedly, I did actually have a brief informal chat with one of the faculty members when I applied back in 2019, but I doubt that would count towards anything haha.
That said, I do kinda find it frustrating that many schools, at least in my limited experience, seem to inform rejected applicants much later (sometimes weeks) than those accepted or waitlisted...
Sorry to hear that! May I ask though, did you ever get an interview with Cornell? I applied, but I never heard anything, so I'm assuming that means a rejection?
