Question for those that have applied to Syracuse -- in my "myslice" account, I have a little section called applicant services, and then underneath that, there's a tab for admissions acceptance. When I click that though, I get a page that says "This page is currently unavailable for your use." I can't remember if this was there before, and am wondering if other people have that as well? I haven't gotten an email from them or anything, so I honestly don't know what the deal is yet!

Those Syracuse admits seem suspicious to me, having come one right after the other. Statistically, they usually release later in the admissions cycle as well I believe. Unless anyone here claims, I would likely say troll (WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS I TRULY DO NOT UNDERSTAND).

Anyone else a little weirded out by Duke's lack of response? It seems like in the last few years, they've released their acceptances and rejections at around the same time, and if not, usually only a few days later. I haven't seen anyone claim a rejection on here either, so it just seems odd! Also congrats @cheetah for the admission! I went to GU Law and got my LLM there and I loved it. The campus is super pretty too!

Sure! And I offered the same thing to the other poster -- I'm super happy to chat about my time there, give advice on what apartments complexes are better to live in/nicer, where to go for a good drink, and anything else. Biggest advice though -- buy seasons football tickets! Students get a HUGE discount!

Hey! I talked to the same poster about this, so if you want to see my response, look below. The main university really isn't that conservative. You can make of your education what you will there. I almost went to law school there as well, and was under the impression that graduate school similarly isn't conservative. I went to Notre Dame as an undergraduate, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. In terms of undergrad, ND is a little weird, in that males and females are separated into single sex dorms -- think kind of like frats and sororities -- and prohibited from entering those dorms at specific times (late at night). Some dorms are super lax about this, and others aren't. You won't be dealing with that because you're a grad student. That being said, I absolutely LOVED my time at Notre Dame, and wish I could go back. Football season is INSANELY fun, if you're into that kind of stuff. Tailgaiting is amazing, and people are extremely friendly. You can literally walk up to a random tailgate and be invited for food, drink, etc. Outside of football season, it can get pretty cold. But it's fun to attend other sports games, like hockey, basketball, etc. The bars near campus (which has been built up a lot in the past few years) are also really fun. While religion is definitely important at ND, I wouldn't say it encompasses all aspects of academia. I grew up Catholic, but am currently not practicing. I never felt any pressure to *convert* or return to the Church. I doubt you'll be required to take religion classes like I was as a freshman there. Outside of that, I really don't remember a specific instance where religion had any impact on my studies there. I had several teachers who were atheists, Jewish, and everything else. If you want to take religion classes, they'll definitely be available. If you don't, there's more than enough classes that likely won't mention religion at all. From the political science classes I took while I was there, the teachers never shied away from controversial topics. I hope that helps. I know that everyone has complained about this a ton of times, but I also just wish schools would release their rejections on the same day as all their acceptances. Even if it's way later in the day. For example, for Duke, I've noticed in the past that sometimes their rejections come at least a week after their acceptances. If you already know who is going to be waitlisted or accepted, and already also know who is going to be rejected. Just reject us poor souls that are just sitting on our hands!

Guessing since my portal hasn't changed I'm a rejection. A big, fat, amazing congratulations to those who have gotten in and those who are on the waitlist! It's an amazing school/program, and the friends that I've had go there have absolutely adored it. YOU DID IT!

I'm from Rochester! I have no earthly clue why I didn't apply. But if you need any advice on where to live (neighborhood wise), what restaurants are good, fun bars, etc. I'm happy to help!

Okay, good -- I was like there is literally NO way that I didn't submit my SoP or my resume. I don't even think they would let me complete it without uploading them! Damn near gave me a heart attack, especially because Vandy doesn't have an application preview on the status portal after you submit.

Question for people. I submitted my Vanderbilt application before the due date, with everything attached (you literally cannot submit it without also submitting your SoP, Resume, etc.). When I look at my applicant status portal, however, under "We have received the following documents from you:", only my writing sample pops up. Is that the case for others? If they lost my SoP and all my other information and I am disqualified because of that, I will be more than a little annoyed!

I feel ya. I have GAD, and this waiting definitely doesn't help with it AT ALL! At least you have us on here to talk to about it, since it's all we can talk about as well. It does seem personal re: a lot of schools that take so long to get back to their applicants. Let's all keep this in mind when we get onto advisory boards, so we can make sure our future students get their answers (good or bad) ASAP! I know we did this earlier, but I'm going to list a few shows that have helped me during this craziness because they're stupid, funny, and very feel good. And they're short too, so I make myself watch at least one episode before jumping back on here and refreshing 43 times to see if someone has responded about a school I've applied to. Brooklyn 99; Parks and Rec (for the people from the US, it has our current President in it, and our former first lady!); Elementary (fun take on Sherlock Holmes -- hour long show); The Office; How I Met Your Mother (except for the last episode, blegh)

Don't give up on Vanderbilt yet! I, too, applied, and haven't heard back. I think there were only two or three people who got interviews on this forum, and they said we have until the end of next week to hear about getting them. It's possible that only one subfield was contacted yet, or any other number of possibilities. To all those who are losing hope -- don't do it yet! I didn't get in anywhere last cycle, but I literally didn't hear about a lot of schools until early to mid-March. That's without COVID/when it first started. For those on waitlists, celebrate! Your resume and application package were good enough for consideration to some of these amazing schools. For those who haven't gotten on a waitlist or haven't been accepted yet, take a deep breath (don't worry, I'm telling myself the same thing). We have each other in here to distract, bemoan the application process, and generally just bitch about life. We're all in the same boat, and it seems like each and every single person in here is intelligent, kind, and dedicated to academia. We'll all end up where we're supposed to be, which (hopefully) will be in a PhD program next year! If not, apply, apply, and apply again. That's what I've done and will continue to do until one of these damn schools lets me in. Until then, keep the faith! We all got this everyone! *end of positivity rant, back to biting my nails and trying to distract myself with pointless television shows*

I haven't heard from Duke (interviewed or not). Additionally, does Vanderbilt only email for interviews on Monday's? lol I feel like after that initial wave (which I think was only 2 or 3 people if I'm not mistaken), we haven't heard a peep. BOIL POT FFS.
