Only two overlaps, and PSU isn't at the top of my list. There is only one person there who shares my research interests. What are you interested in researching?

I took the GRE back in June and got a 650 on verbal, a 660 on quant, and a 4.5 for the written. My scores more or less mirrored the POWERPREP tools that ETS provided. They are probably the best indicator on how you will perform. All other practice tests I could get my hands on (Kaplan, Baron's, etc.) where either bewilderingly difficult of humorously easy. My scores are not spectacular, but they're solid and slightly higher than those of the schools that I'm applying to. The verbal in particular. I attribute most of it to Kaplan's flash cards of 500 common words. Many of those words made it into my test.

I am applying to Wayne State. It's a great program. The only thing I'm concerned about is the city. Whenever I tell someone that I want to study in Detroit, people usually respond by telling my about some acquaintance of theirs that went there for some reason and thought it was unsafe. If it had been just one instance then I would have dismissed it, but has happened multiple times. So for anyone in Detroit: is it as terrible as everyone would have me believe?

I'd like to reopen this topic for anyone applying to an I/O program. I have eight schools on my list: Wayne State University Wright State University Seattle Pacific University Purdue University Case Western University George Washington University Central Michigan University Portland State University Hopefully I'll get into one of their Ph.D programs. Most of my applications have been sent in, but it seems like I won't hear anything until February. The wait is hard!
