Did anyone else get this email from Iowa? I'm just trying to figure out if everybody got one or if they genuinely mean it and I should apply again next year. "You have no doubt by now received word from the University of Iowa that we were unable to admit you to the Iowa Playwrights Workshop this next year, but we wanted you to know that we are deeply grateful to you for applying and we wanted to be certain that you knew of our respect and admiration for your commitment to this important art form that we all love. May you and your writing prosper in the years to come! " I'm trying to figure out where and how I should apply to schools next year, and would love any advice from any of you who have applied multiple times! I'm specifically wondering how much you changed your application each year. I received really positive feedback about my personal essay from the schools I interviewed at, and it was a very emotional experience writing it, so I'm wondering if I have to go through that all again to come up with something different or if I can just spice up the original. Thanks everyone and congrats to those of you who are off to grad school this fall!

Has anybody heard anything from Ohio? Interviews or anything? It just seems like a long time for all of us to have heard nothing.

Anyone heard anything from Ohio? Since UCLA sent their rejections late last night, Ohio's my last loose end.

@yoinky I am in the same boat for UCLA. Unfortunately all I know is that during my interview, they told me their interview process takes a while and couldn't give me a real estimate about when I would hear by. I went looking through the results page and it seems like the times people hear are not consistent from year to year either. I've also heard that in the past there's been a second round of interviews, but I don't know whether that is happening this year. I know the wait is super frustrating, sorry that's all the info I got.

I appreciate you all so much!

Really heartbroken to have gotten a rejection from Columbia today. I know this is my first year and I shouldn't expect anything, but David Henry Hwang told me I was fantastic and ended the interview saying "bye for now" and I don't know why he would say that if it was just going to be a rejection. It feels like I was led on. Anyone else had any experiences like this? Why do interviewers give us false hope?

Got responses from UCSD and USC today. Honestly even though they were nos, it's so much better knowing than being in the dark. Fingers crossed for everyone this week!

Just got my rejection from Brown. I saw it coming, but it was my favorite so it still stung

I'm confused because I have not gotten a no or waitlist from Brown, but I didn't get an interview, so I had assumed it was a no. Does anybody know more about their process, do they let people know in waves, is there a chance they do interviews in waves? Also @Strelka congrats on your Columbia interview! I just had mine and it was very exciting! They said they'd get back to me in a week or so!

@c.k.thompson.playwright @quarantini33I heard back from UCLA and had an interview last week. They said they were doing their interviews in stages and it will take a while so I wouldn't count yourself out!

Got an interview at Columbia today! I'm excited but nervous because it's only 20 minutes so a lot shorter than the other schools I've interviewed at! Has anyone interviewed there or had a short interview like that? Also congrats to everyone hearing about admissions! You're killing it!

Congrats! @Applicant2021meI am in the same boat with Pace, I keep checking my applicant portal and nothing has changed but during my interview he said I'd hear soon...I have no idea when would be appropriate to email them, but let me know if you end up doing it, I'm debating on whether to as well.

@Tarantinoverse Congrats! I had read somewhere that Brown doesn't do interviews so it's good to know that they actually do! I just had my UCLA interview today with the entire playwriting faculty and they are all such amazing people! If anyone else has an interview there and is nervous, don't worry, they were super nice!

Hello! I don't know if anyone else applied to UCLA, but I figure it could be helpful to say I just heard back from them and got an interview for next week! Its nice to hear about everyone's progress!

Thanks for the info! Do you know whether we'll be hearing back on decisions in general or if we're just hearing back about interviews? I applied to all of those schools so I'm just wondering whether or not they're doing interviews/already did them.

Hi! This is my first time posting but I've been reading a lot of posts going way back to get a sense for this process. I was rejected from Carnegie Mellon but I got an interview with Pace University. Did anyone else get an interview with Pace? Does anyone have any advice on what to expect from interviews in general? This is my first time applying. I haven't heard back from any other schools and am very on edge about it! It's cool to have this community though!
