I was accepted to the Data Journalism program, no financial aid whatsoever besides a bit of unsubsidized loans.

To clarify I actually got an email from NYU last week, not a call. I was accepted to the Studio 20 program though, so different specialization.

Yeah same thing on my end. I'm assuming it's just administrative lag, wouldn't think too much of it.

Interestingly under the "Federal Financial Aid & Journalism Scholarships" section, the 2021-2022 FAFSA is mentioned. ....Yes I am this bored and obsessive.

Just got an informal email about admission to NYU's Studio 20 Journalism program! Still waiting on Columbia, which is my first choice, but it's great to know I'll be going to grad school!

Applied to the data journalism program myself. Had an interview at the end of January, the wait is driving me crazy! I saw that decisions for the data program have historically been sent out the last week of February or first week of March, so I'm expecting a decision any day now.

One interviewer was a data professor, yeah. The other was someone on the admissions team. I applied to Studio 20 at NYU. Columbia's data program is definitely my #1 choice though, fingers crossed on that one. I'm not sure how common it is to be interviewed. From everything I've researched it seems to be more common if you're applying to a specialty rather than the general program, at least in the case of the MS. Haven't found anything on the MA though, but I wouldn't assume that an interview is required unless you've heard otherwise from others applying.

Cool, did you apply to a more specific program (i.e. stabile or data), or just the general MS? The interview was nothing crazy, just a chance to expand on the application a bit and go more in depth on things. Nothing to stress over.

Applied to Columbia's Data Journalism program and NYU. Was invited for an interview by Columbia last week, think it went pretty well but also not sure if being invited for the interview meant I was in a good position or borderline? Either way, like all of you I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation.
