  1. Hello fellow SDSU rejectees (I also got rejected), I'd be down to find out who is going to CSUSM and connect!
  2. Hi, did you email Kellie Scott specifically or the general admissions department? I've been told to email her specifically with any questions about admissions...no one else will give you any individualized info apparently.
  3. Damn! I am kinda shocked by the lack of professionalism in this whole process. I, too, tried all day on Friday to get ahold of someone on Zoom and no one showed up the whole day. I emailed them after asking if their office hours are still correctly listed...and I emailed Vivian almost two weeks ago and received no response. What is going on, I'd love to know... @Briar, did you email Kellie Scott directly as well?
  4. Hey all, in my billionth post on this forum now, is anyone planning on sending an email to the admissions team at SDSU next week? I just saw that today, May 1, is National Decision Day - so it feels like we should be asking what's up...? But I don't know, since a lot of us haven't heard yet, it does seem like we are in the same boat.
  5. Yeah...I guess being that I am not an undergrad with a fresh set of eyes for grad school, I am a bit jaded as well - and I've already been through the system...I have read some mixed stuff about the NY and private schools in general...honestly, the collegiate system is a mess since it isn't socialized and it's so incredibly competitive. I am still dealing with high anxiety (probably it's obvious as I inundate this thread) regarding not knowing about SDSU still, after 4 and a half months since applying and trying to communicate fruitlessly with their terse staff. So, yeah, I probably have PTSD just from this application cycle alone. Thanks for the support and I don't know if there is a perfect school for you, so I guess my advice is take what you can when you can if it's good enough...might be bad advice but that's where I am at.

Maybe I'll just keep venting anxiously here on this forum, but wondering if anyone is planning on reaching out to them next week.
  7. I understand how it goes - there is a lot of info on this site. I haven't heard about CSUN, but I can tell you that my experiences in the Cal State system have had some positives, but quite a lot of negatives. I went to another state school for a non-MSW graduate program and had some good professors, but overall didn't feel that most were supportive or caring...I know it varies from school to school. It's hard because it is so competitive to get into any of them now, so the students are competing and the staff don't have to try to get anyone to go there...so I'm not sure about the level of professionalism these days. I've had some really horrid experiences with some CSU staff this year in the whole application process honestly...to the point where if I had another option I might go to a better school system. I also want to be a clinical psychotherapist. I think many people will probably tell you that the CSU system is great, but if you are sensitive, need support, and are looking for staff who will really go out of their way to help you in your journey, I'm not sure this is it. I hope I am wrong and I've just been unfortunate to have some particularly negative experiences.
  8. Hey there, I have been following MSW threads and I noticed you responded to someone who went to SDSU 10 years ago...I'm sure a ton has changed since then. I can tell you that I applied to SDSU this year and got accepted to CSU San Marcos and have yet to find out about SDSU, but the application process has been kind of a nightmare - it's very difficult to properly communicate with their admissions staff and some people in particular have been particularly challenging to get answers from in any nice and direct way. Hope any of that is helpful to you.
  9. I'm taking the steps to prepare for my placement in CSU San Marcos' program in the meantime, because at least it's something concrete to work toward...and we'll see what happens in June.
  10. Real talk...I think we need to go by what the program website says, since I have found the Admissions folks to be pretty all over the place. "Decision letters are emailed between April 15 and June 5. Wait list students will be notified the first week of June." So really, we might have another month and five days of waiting...I think we should maybe just accept it and if it ends up being earlier, that would be fabulous of course.
  11. Yeah...I just never have been on their list and I have never received any communications that made it to my spam folder. Just gave up on it.
  12. I've never received any general email communications regarding the timelines - I only was told the end of April because I reached out to admissions directly, but would have never known if I hadn't reached out. I don't think I'm on their email listserv ?
  13. I don't really think we will all hear from them today. This whole process and their lack of communication and responsiveness has been very stressful.
  14. I'm there, too! I got accepted to San Marcos' MSW program back in mid-March and feels like it's a forever waiting game for SDSU. I was about to send an email to Kellie Scott, the Admissions Director, tomorrow - but if none of y'all have heard anything about your statuses, I'm thinking maybe I should hold off. I also applied for the three-year program and thought maybe it was an error that I haven't heard back. It's comforting to know I'm not alone! Hugs to my fellow anxious applicants!
  15. Is anyone still waiting to hear from the 3-year direct practice track at SDSU?

  17. Hi y'all. Wondering if anyone has any knowledge about drug testing for practicums in MSW programs in California. I was accepted today to CSU San Marcos and know that some clinical facilities may require drug screening for MSW students. Drug testing was mentioned both in the info session and acceptance letter - not that the school does testing, but that clinics might. I haven't heard about this from SDSU, the other school I'm waiting to hear back about. I was wondering if anyone knows when drug testing takes place before the start of the fall semester? Since cannabis is legal in California, it would be helpful to have a heads up about when we could be tested - I have no idea when we pick or get assigned a facility to do clinical work in, but imagine it will be sometime by Summer. I tried asking the school about specifics, but they had no info - just said that some clinics might do drug testing so be prepared, but it would be great to have any clue about when this might be...asking for a friend, lol. Thanks!
  18. For those of you who said they checked the portal and the department is reviewing it, what are you referring to? I didn't see info stated like that in Interfolio or Cal-State Apply. Curious how many of you have also applied to the SDSU MFT program? I already found out I didn't make it to the interview rounds. Pretty bummed about that and worried that CSU SM and SDSU MSW programs are also going to be highly competitive, the other MSW schools I applied to. I worry that my undergraduate CUM GPA of 3.18 is pretty low, though grad school was 3.64, which is an improvement.
