  1. UConn offered me admission with funding, but I will be accepting another offer. I hope this helps. Good luck!
  2. I received an e-mail from the graduate coordinator this afternoon. Good luck.
  3. Thank you all for your suggestions. Let me just say, I did not mean to discredit Pitt in any way with this topic. I am very happy about the acceptance and was simply hoping that a Pitt person might help explain how the Department does things.
  4. You read correctly. The graduate administrator did provide me with an estimate of the financial award in a 3-sentence e-mail, but his was hardly a contract of any kind. I am quite perplexed. I hope some Pitt applicants that were accepted in 2011 or 2010 can help clarify the situation.
  5. Has anyone received the official acceptance letter from the School or Arts and Sciences? I was told that I have to accept the Department's offer before I can receive the SAS letter with all the funding details. This seems very odd. I was mailed the Department's acceptance letter at the end of January, and other programs have already provided me with detailed information about their respective funding packages. Any thoughts?
  6. CAPoliSciPhD and yinz_guys, have either of you heard anything back from Colorado?? I applied to the masters prom (thought I might have better chance of being accept if they compared my file to MA applicants instead of PhDs). expatbayern, any news from WashU? I'm waitlisted for funding
  7. I called UPenn today and the graduate administrator told me they sent out all the admissions and waitlists. So if you haven't heard anything - assume the worst I am stating this just to verify an earlier post on the same topic.
  8. Those of you who were offered funding at WUSTL but are not going to enroll there, please let the admissions committee know asap. I was recently accepted, but they won't know for a few weeks what they can offer me in terms of funding. Please help, I would love to be able to work with Crisp! Thanks
  9. Congratulations to the UCSD acceptees! Top comparative program in the country. Tell Lijphart I said "sup." You are my new heros.
  10. Congratulations Pittsburgh! I'm really excited/stressed about tomorrow, thanks for the heads up. Would you mind posting your stats, help give those of us waiting an idea of what we are up against? Do you by any chance know anything about the Masters program? Again, Congratulations!!!
  11. Colorado!?.... They have always started sending decisions out by this date... what's going on??
  12. I'm Comparative, so I understand what you mean about looking for an international focus. If you don't mind me asking, who do you envision yourself working with at UF?
  13. With regard to environmental politics, I hear very good things about Colorado State. Anyone else apply there? What do you guys think are the top EP programs?
  14. Anyone know anything about Colorado's Masters program? When decisions will be made? Also, anyone else apply to Washington University in St. Louis?
  15. Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better. I'm quite pleased with my writing sample, I just hope it is looked at during the admissions process. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding contacting professor and such. Are applicants usually invited to do interviews or should we try to arrange them ourselves? Did anyone pay a service to help them with their personal statement? I know some grad students who swear by it and others who do not suggest it. I'd love to hear some opinions. Anyone know of good programs in Canada for electoral studies (besides U of T)? PS This site is great. I really appreciate all the grad students for helping us applicants out.
  16. Quick Profile of Myself: I am a 4th year political science major at a large public school. I expect to graduate either magnum cum laude or suma cum laude. Overall GPA: 3.91 Major GPA: 3.88 GRE: 1390 = Q: 740 + V: 650 AWA: 4.0 ? *How important is the AWA score? I am looking for a comparative program with a focus on electoral studies. Anyone have an idea of where I have a good shot of getting in? I am trying to determine "safety schools" I can apply to.
