  1. I know it's still too early for Sub-Saharan Africa notifications, but when the time comes, any BOTSWANA grantees are welcome to PM me for advice about moving here, living arrangements, etc. I am a current grantee in Botswana and would be happy to impart what I've learned about finding a place to live (and I have a car to sell too!)
  2. Is anyone using only the health insurance that Fulbright provides? I want to have additional coverage because it is my understanding that Fulbright recommends it due to the limitations of their coverage. However, I am finally too old to be covered under my parents' insurance and although my school will allow me to continue to buy their (somewhat crappy) insurance, it will be way more expensive than it is for a regular full time student. Would love to know what others are doing!
  3. Heya, I'm waiting for Fulbright-Fogarty too (Botswana). I emailed Jermaine Jones last week and he said that our letters were definitely separate from the rest of those sent out for Sub-Saharan Africa and that he wasn't sure when they would go out, but hopefully before the end of April. I was kind hoping to find out about it before my current graduating class starts clinical rotations next week, but that's not happening so I guess I'll end up with a bit of a split up schedule in the event that I do get the fellowship. That's okay though! At least my school is being flexible with me!
  4. I thought of that too, nakasa! i'm also waiting for sub-saharan africa! i think i need to stop analyzing the spreadsheet...
  5. I'm also sub-Saharan Africa (Botswana)! Sadly, I have no information to report! Is anyone else a finalist for the Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship in Public Heatlh for sub-Saharan Africa? We get the same benefits as a full grant so I think that I'm with that pool but I'm not sure.... Please, please, please post if you hear anything!! I'll do the same!
  6. To those thinking they must apply at-large: Many (although of course I cannot speak for all of them) Fulbright coordinators will help alumni as well as current students and you can apply through your alma mater as an alumnus. My BA school was willing to let me apply through them even though I had graduated 3 years previously AND was currently enrolled at another school for a graduate degree. I liked having the support of a Fulbright coordinator but I assume that once you've been through the process once, applying at-large wouldn't be such a big deal.
  7. Finalist for Botswana (public health fellowship)! Crimson, I'm glad you posted the WSU info earlier today and congrats to you! I did end up applying through WSU and had a really positive experience so thanks for the info about the WSU fulbright program as well!
  8. Me! I applied for the public health fellowship in Botswana.
  9. Thanks for your advice. Yeah I go to WSU as well; I hope my first post didn't sound too snobby about WSU! I'm not in Pullman this summer so that adds to the complication...because I can't meet with anyone in person for the time being! Anyways, I'm still trying to decide between affiliation with WSU or with Tufts University. The Fulbright program to which I'm applying is brand new this year and no one really seems to know much about it. The Tufts people were a little more helpful in digging up info for me, but the Fulbright coordinators at both school have been attentive in their correspondence.
  10. Hey Crimson, How have you found the Fulbright advising at WSU? Trying to decide if I should apply through them or a different school.... Thanks.
  11. Just wondering if anyone had advice about choosing an affiliation for a Fulbright application if you have more than one option. I'm trying to decide if I should apply with my BA alma mater which is a better school than the state school at which I'm currently enrolled at a veterinary student. I've been in contact with the Fulbright coordinators at both schools and both are willing to help me out. My alma mater has more Fulbright applicants each year and seems slightly more organized/helpful in giving me advice. However, I am living across the country from the alma mater and wouldn't be able to have an in-person interview. There are fewer applicants from my current school and it's definitely a less academically rigorous institution. Does any of this stuff matter? Is there any advantage to be an applicant from a school with few applications each year? If it makes any difference I'd like to apply to the public health fellowship, not ETA or full grant.
