  1. Looks like there's an NYU fiction acceptance just now, so they are making the calls today. EDIT: Still no other listings, and nothing on Draft. So maybe they are issuing calls more gradually. Or perhaps no one else in these groups was accepted. (Why yes, I do have other things I should be doing.)
  2. NYU is a very popular program so if they were calling fiction writers I'm sure someone on Draft would have been accepted and posted about it - beyond the fellowship recipients last week. Doesn't mean it's not very soon though. Last year they seem to have called accepted students on Wed 2/26.
  3. There is a poetry acceptance from 2/15, though I am concerned about fiction. The only result from last year is also poetry, from around the same time. In 2019, acceptances also happened on what would have been the equivalent of last week. (With rejections delivered via snail mail on the equivalent of next week - the indignity!) There also doesn't appear to be anything on Draft for this year. Just hard to read the tea leaves on this one. Seems just as likely that they accepted people who aren't on these groups as it is that they are delayed.
  4. Anyone know what the deal is with University of Miami? On Draft and on here, I can only find acceptances historically from around Feb 19, and then rejections in early March. Trying to determine if that means waitlists go out this week and that I should assume I am not accepted. Does not seem to be a popular program from users here, so data is limited.
  5. Count me as a member of the Vandy reject club. Have a good weekend everyone.
  6. https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=creative+writing I think NYU is just notifying VIPs with fellowships today. It's a relatively large program with not a huge amount of funding so I'm sure the rest of the cohort will get notified in the next couple of weeks.
  7. I attended the open house and basically I think they want to know whether and how you are engaging with contemporary literature. It's not nearly as important as the writing sample, but I think it helps if you choose something that you really respond to as an artist. I believe Victor LaValle said they want to see "what makes you the most excited" and "addressing the text in a voice that feels authentic to you."
  8. They meant the program, not the applicant, has three total acceptances.
  9. Here's a question: when you receive an email that says something like "An update has been posted to your application, please check the portal" does that pretty much always mean a rejection, or do they actually notify people that they've been accepted that way too? Has anyone received an email like that and logged on to find that they'd been accepted? Just want to set my expectations accordingly if it always means rejection/waitlist.
  10. Have been lurking the last week or so, decided to join the fun. I worked really hard and methodically on my application over the last several months. Before I checked here I didn't realize so much activity happened in February. Based on previous years it seems some of my schools could be providing results as early as next week. Now I'm very anxious. I am working full time, and actually just got married. I will need to move soon, so my future is partially determined by whether and where I get into any of these schools. In a weird way it will be kind of a relief if I don't get in anywhere so that I can just keep plugging along. And because I need to move on a tight deadline, I will need to make a decision before waitlists get processed - so getting waitlisted is effectively a rejection for me. Anyhoo nice to be here and hope to engage in further discussion in the coming month. Best of luck to all.
