  1. To the person that just stated that they accepted Florida State, which programs did you decline your offer to?
  2. We need the people that are accepted into the top 25 programs to commit. Once that occurs, things will move quickly because they will decline their offers from programs in the 30-50 range.
  3. Has anyone received anything from Saint Louis University (SLU) yet???
  4. Ok, one more attempt at soliciting information regarding the situation at Purdue University. Ultimately, I welcome any information!
  5. Congrats on the successful cycle! Which waitlist offer are you waiting for to make a decision?
  6. I am waitlisted at Purdue University. The email stated that they are admitting 6 students this cycle. There was no indication on whether or not the waitlist is ranked. Does anyone have any information? Specifically, if you have been accepted, are you planning to accept? If you are waitlisted, have you corresponded with the director of graduate studies and/or have any additional information? Thanks!
  7. These comments are helpful. I especially appreciate your insight on certain program's strategy of "playing the numbers" with their acceptances, thereby making it unlikely that they will move to the waitlist. I would like to think that this is not standard practice. However, I have no epistemic grounding for this thought--hopeful thinking perhaps.
  8. We are about a month away from deadline day. Here are a few thoughts: 1. With a few exceptions, the top 25 (and perhaps even the top 50) programs have released their acceptances (and waitlists). 2. Prospective student events are taking place now and during the next two weeks. I have already attended a few myself. Because of 1-2, at this point in time you should not be holding on to 7 acceptances. (I chose 7 because someone on the results page claimed to have this number.) You should absolutely decline a few of those offers asap. If you can honestly tell me that you are considering all 7 offers, then I am extremely disappointed in your lack of preparedness (learning about the programs you are applying to, meeting faculty and graduate students, and learning about the program including financial package) for this application cycle. For those that have around 3 acceptances. I imagine you are doing your due diligence the next couple of weeks (attending the prospective student event, meeting with faculty, etc.) and should be able to narrow your acceptances down to 2. For those that have an acceptance and are waitlisted at multiple programs that they would not chose over their acceptance, you should take yourself off the waitlist asap. This action is trivial to you but potentially substantial to others. If you have 0 acceptances and are on multiple waitlists, I hope you are staying mentally well during this difficult time! Finally, there are surely cases where it makes sense that someone is holding on to multiple acceptances. However, during the next week, I encourage everyone in this category to spend some time evaluating their acceptances and declining those offers that are realistically not in the running (including waitlists offers). I have spoken to a few of the programs I am waitlisted at and the DOG's state that their has been no movement. Since most of the (ranked) programs have released first round acceptances and some holding prospective events, the time is NOW to get the movement started.
  9. Follow up: I did indeed get waitlisted at Purdue University. They have made offers to six applicants with no indication on how large their waitlist is. If you got accepted, I would love to hear from you. Specifically, are you planning to accept, where does Purdue rank on your list, etc. Thanks!
  10. Purdue has sent out acceptances and rejections. I am assuming that I am on the waitlist since I have not heard anything from them. If anyone on here got accepted, please let me know if they indicated their cohort size or any other pertinent information. Thanks!
  11. Is Purdue University releasing acceptances in waves? Someone reported an acceptance on March 2 and now on March 4. I welcome any information!
  12. How do you rank your acceptances? "BC" refers to Boston College correct?
  13. I am also curious about Boston College. Should we assume that we are on a the waitlist. According to the spreadsheet, people have only reported acceptance and rejection. In addition, has anyone received information from UBC (Vancouver)?
  14. Can you elaborate on your Nebraska acceptance? What did they state in the email? Anything about cohort size (etc.)
  15. Has anyone heard anything from the University of Florida? I cannot get a response.
  16. I am waitlisted at UConn and there has been no movement yet. I am in the dark on what my chances are of getting in. I am unfamiliar with the application cycle in anthropology. Is it safe to say that all top programs have released their offers already? If so, should we assume that there will be a lot of movement the next week or two?
  17. Has there been any movement at Miami yet? According to Simon Evnine during the prospective student event week, Miami is trying to bring in 3 students this year. In addition, he claimed that there had been no movement--the only exception being someone declined there waitlist offer. Does anyone know anything? Specifically, has anyone declined there offer or has anyone moved off the waitlist yet. I imagine most of the movement will happen this coming week or next. I feel that it is very unlikely that I will receive an offer from Miami based off of how many people attended the prospective event. It appears that I am one of several (I counted around 12 people) that are in the mix for an acceptance. As I am sure it is the case for most people this cycle, the pressure is starting to build! I only have waitlists offers and I am beginning to think nothing is going to come through because of this being an atypical year.
  18. I hope so but this may be too optimistic. In other words, we both might be screwed!
  19. Can anyone claim that acceptance from York University (Canada)?
  20. First, with less than 3 weeks to go in this cycle, I find it annoying that I have 9 applications still pending. It seems crazy that a program requires 4 months to review applications. At the very least, this is inconsiderate to graduate students and supports the idea for systemic change to the application process. Second, despite my lack of knowledge of the ins-and-outs of the application process, I tend to agree with an earlier post on this thread--movement on the waitlist begins to occur (rapidly) once NYU, Princeton, and other top 10 programs release their decisions (and have their prospective student week). This leads me to my questions. Why has there not been any movement yet if the top programs have released their decisions? Am I missing something? I am waitlisted at Miami, Nebraska, Purdue, and Utah. Any insight into potential movements at these programs is welcomed!!!
  21. Thanks for the response. Do you know if any of those 5 people are planning to decline their offer?
  22. Can anyone claim that waitlist for York University PhD program? According to the spreadsheet, it appears that only MA offers have been released. I also find it unusual that they would send out waitlist offers before acceptances or rejections. However, my intuition could be wrong on this matter.
  23. I received a waitlist offer from Purdue this morning. Do you know if you (and the other person on FB) plan to accept the offer? No pressure, I just want to calculate the likelihood. Thanks!
  24. I am also curious about the situation at Purdue. Any insight is greatly appreciated!
  25. Does anyone have any insight into the situation at the University of Miami? I made their waitlist. I am specifically looking for information about their waitlist.
