Waitlisted for MC/MPA. Can’t remember exact GPA but it’s nothing mind-blowing, I think around 3.2 and from a totally average school. I did submit GRE’s: 157V, 158Q, 4.5 AWA. About 13 years or work experience.
work experience in non-profit?

Hi all -- I have been admitted to the MPP with a full-ride (no additional stipend and no named fellowship, though I am an "alternate" for one). I will be turning down the offer today and I hope others also make their decisions quickly to help those on the waitlist.
I'm sharing the above mostly to remind everyone, whether they got in or not, that HKS is an amazing school that will unlock phenomenal opportunities but it is not the best fit for everyone! There's lot to like but also lots to be aware of. ?I’m wondering what should one be aware of?

No, MC/MPA but not Mason.
and what’s your background like?
I’m so curious to find about those who belong to private sector, wanted to pivot their career and got in!

Rejected last year for MC/MPA, reapplied and waitlisted this year. Biggest difference was improved GRE scores - 297 combined score last year, 315 this year.
was it mason prog?

Got into the MC/MPA program and still in a state of shock. I keep looking at the admission letter just to make sure I read it correctly
Any other MC/MPAers here? Would love to connect!

Hi Hina, so good to know you got in! many congrats!
I have a decade of experience in the energy downstream sector and worked with the country’s major oil companies at a managerial position — still wondering what went against me:
a) private sector
b) no GRE and TOEFL (both weren’t necessary in my case)
c) not meeting the average experience of 13 years

"Each year the Harvard Kennedy School Admissions Committee completes the grueling task of reviewing applications submitted by a highly qualified applicant pool. Applicants with outstanding records of achievement, demonstrated leadership abilities, and commitment to public service apply from all over the world for a limited number of spaces. This year, we have identified many more qualified candidates than we were able to admit. After careful review of your application, I regret to inform you that the Admissions Committee is unable to offer you admission to the Mid-Career MPA Program at this time.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide individualized feedback regarding the Committee’s decision. Although we cannot offer you a place in next year’s class, we are certain you have a bright future ahead. The world needs individuals dedicated to the public interest and your commitment is sure to make a difference. Thank you for your interest in Harvard Kennedy School and your patience during the review process. We wish you all the best on your journey to making the world a better place.
Sincerely,
Oliver B. Street, III
yeah same here!
could have been “congrats” too lol!

Rejected but keeping the faith- remember, last year people went from rejected to waitlist to accepted over a matter of weeks! All rules are out the window at HKS given the pandemic. Congrats to those that got in today, good luck to those of us that didn't- it's not over until the first day of classes!
what does your letter look like?
-
couldn’t make it to MC/MPA but only encouraged to do more and better for the next time and at the same time also considering cornell!
congratulations y’all who are accepted — it was great chatting here!

During my last admission portal refresh just now- all documents that previously showed as received (eg essays) disappeared and the only items shown as received were my transcripts- anyone else noticing similar?
it’s all intact for me!

TBH I'm in Asia and it's 2 AM, but I can't sleep at all since the clue says it will be today. I really shouldn't have checked the forum right before I was trying to sleep.
ah tell me about it — 11pm at my end and still obsessively checking the forum!

Guys...if I may to manage expectations, HKS explicitly mentioned just one week ago that "decisions will be released in late March". 18th is by no means "late" March. I also find it weird that they didn't yet publish that standard "Here's how you will receive your decision" blog post yet. I still think it'll be sometime next week, but of course I may be wrong. These portal updates are weird + they must feel pressured given all of their peer programs have published + 100 days have passed + what's this thing some people have mentioned about current students telling them today is the day? Can y'all elaborate?
yes I agree! I think it will be very abrupt if it happens today!

If results really do come out today, then I think Matt experimented with his slightly evil side this year. There's good Matt, who informs the world, and bad Matt, who keeps everyone in a minor state of cardiac arrest for weeks. ?
I'm just so glad I don't work in admissions.
you made me laugh!

I can access 2 and 4 on the links and that being said the 2nd link is for domestic students which I’m not — I can only see why I fall in that and it’s b/c of my last name!

I think I should just stop looking at my phone now!

Just now, MPPNYC said:Yes, and links to make appointments. Doesn't seem too serious, really, and likely added for everyone. But it could mean that results are en route?

I see updates in the red box on the right in my myfaid portal.
what are the updates?
email IDs of the officers to be contacted?

Yep - it is kind of hard to focus. Even though my sane mind knows it will be what it will be, and whatever it will be, it will be the best.
Have been refreshing the portal to see if there have been any changes like they said in last years posts. Do you see anything?
I don’t know what should we expect there? Wouldn’t we get an email? I’m just waiting for that and coming back here numerous times a day!
do you think admissions and financial aid office work independently? I’ve come across this many times but it’s unfathomable as to why the latter would want to waste their time on people who didn’t make it in the first place! idk we’ll see in a few hours or days and like you said whatever happens, happens for the best!

Hey yes they do. Last year I received funding from them as a John F Kennedy Tuition award that wasn't linked to any specific scholarship or fellowship program.
did it cover the whole tuition? I mean how generous it was?

Guys I might take one for the team and email HKS today asking if we can expect decisions this week or next, while justifying the email to "ease my anxieties" lmao. Assuming it won't effect their decision re: my status at this stage...right ?
hahaha @ ease my anxieties!
