62 chemistry awards. Is that at all consistent with previous years?
  2. Chem09

    NSF GRFP

    950 awards. Hooray for "more"

I want to tackle this with theoretical chemistry, and I am currently on the "anti" side.

On almost every page, there's about 4-5 people quoting and not getting sarcasm. That's the real fun.

Still, I never believe the people who try to will themselves into apathy either.

I can confirm. Now, even the login page is gone.
  7. I've been rejected from Columbia via the ApplyYourself page. I am indifferent, but those who aren't should check it out.
  8. Today, I logged into the NYU GSAS Supporting Materials status page, and saw a new set of required materials, namely a "response form," "deposit," and "final transcript." I suggest others try this technique. (Aside: I think everything at this school gets done on Fridays!) Also, you can try to go to home.nyu.edu, and attempt to create an e-mail address.

  10. I'm almost impressed that you could extract such a radically, unrealistically pessimistic interpretation.
  11. I feel like a jerk for holding back on this, but I have an e-mail which should confirm that departments may have made decisions, but the Enrollment Services procedures need to be carried out: Hang in there guys. I have a 3.35 GPA
  12. I was invited to NYU, for the 27th and 28th of February. I hate to ask this of you people, but does the e-mail sound like one of those "you're basically in" e-mails? Dear Chem09, I am writing to invite you to the New York University Department of Chemistry Prospective Graduate Student Visiting Day. It will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 beginning at 9:30. Our Visiting Day is an opportunity for a group of select Ph.D applicants to visit the Department, meet with our faculty members, talk with our graduate students, and tour our facilities. Your application has been reviewed by the admissions committee and we hope very much to meet you. We will cover travel expenses, including transportation and dorm-style accommodations. I will be in contact with you individually about specific arrangements. There will be on-campus activities all day Friday, to acquaint you with our program, and social activities that evening and during the day on Saturday the 28th. If you are unable to attend on February 27, we would be glad to have you visit on another day at your convenience. Please R.S.V.P. for this event as soon as possible, preferably by February 11. Sincerely, etc. The attachment outlined the two new faculty NYU has picked up, and who will begin in summer.
