Has anyone heard about receiving an alternate award? SSHRC confirmed nobody was advised if they were waitlisted or not. Only funded/not funded letters were sent out. So, anyone who is an alternate might be hearing soon. Has anyone received an email letting them know they received an alternate award?

Hey if anyone's still here lol.. I just found out this week that my SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship is being upgraded to a CGS-D! I didn't know that could happen. I guess because some people who weren't going to Canadian schools couldn't accept a CGS-D so they must have some kind of list of who gets it in that case? Anyways, I hope everyone's having a good summer!

Anyone else still waiting to hear back? I've lost any hope that it will be positive at this point, I just want it to be over

Have you checked with your department? It really seems like everyone (at least on this thread) has heard at this point

  3. Hi everyone, congrats to those who got the news they were hoping for and all my best wishes to those who did not. I got my notification from SSHRC this evening, I won a SSHRC Doctoral Award (not CGS D) with a score of 15.67/20. I applied twice for SSHRC during my MA and the first year did not get it, second year was waitlisted and didn't get it in the end. Now I am currently completing my MA and entering my PhD in the fall. I applied through my current institution. I finished my undergrad with a 3.74/4.30 GPA, and I've finished my MA coursework with a 4.30/4.30 GPA. My MA degree has been fully funded by scholarships and awards, I've held multiple TAships and RAships, presented at multiple conferences, held an endowed internship at an American university last summer, as well as a number of other internships. I had two forthcoming publications at the time of my application, one peer reviewed and one not, but both being published by academic publishers. I had very strong reference letters as well. I hope this information might be helpful.
Congratulations to everyone for making it to this level of the competition, which is truly an achievement in itself! Take care everyone.

Yeah, so she was filling out a form for me, like a grad progress form, and she wrote in it that "[student] didn't get SSHRC this year and we are waiting to hear from FRQSC".. and when I asked her she was like "oops, my mistake. I removed the sentence".

I want to ask but it feels daunting to go through "oh can you clarify what happened there", especially now that I responded to her and look like I've moved on. Dont get me wrong, I am more than willing to dig it back up if needed lol and perhaps that's what I should do to put this to rest in me, but I'm just so confused by what happened ya know? :S

Hmmm I think based on what you described, it could have been what TurnLeft said about just assuming you didn't get it because SSHRC is so ridiculous, but also that comment is sort of ambiguous so it's hard to say ? it does seem weird that some schools would know before others though. Unless maybe your supervisor has some kinda special connection to people at SSHRC and heard from them? Idk, it's a mystery
