Just got an email with a PhD acceptance with full funding!! I had basically given up on this cycle after UT Austin and Washington rejections and an implied rejection from UIUC and other programs.
-
Has anyone else heard anything from the University of Washington? I saw one acceptance on the results page today

Man these UT Austin acceptances/ waitlists results have me stressin... I had a feeling I wouldn't get in here, so a definitive reject to rip off the bandaid would be just lovely
Congratulations to the poster who got in though! It makes me happy to see other people's excitement
I saw that and I immediately refreshed MyStatus just for my app to still be under review. Whether it's an acceptance or rejection, I hope for all of us on this thread to hear something in the next week or so to have some peace of mind.

Another person posted an acceptance to UIUC ? my heart rate just spiked
I keep checking the UIUC application portal for any changes daily. My hope is that they are sending out decisions in small waves or according to specialities/areas of focus.

So I actually thought I had a pretty good chance of getting accepted here, but seeing someone else post their win is knocking me down a notch ?
Same here- I felt deflated when I didn't see any change. Apparently they are still reviewing applications and decisions should be available in February. It just got too real really fast

I saw that someone posted an acceptance to UIUC (congrats!!) so I checked my portal and it was the same 'awaiting decision' I've seen since December.
I hope other decisions come quickly and timely.

It's pretty common for lit programs to take 2+ months before announcing decisions. What I like to do is check out last year's gradcafe results to see when people started posting acceptances/rejections.
This is helpful and eases some of my worries- I guess the waiting out is getting to me a bit. ?

Anyone else already starting to get antsy waiting to hear back? ?
Just finished my last 2 applications this afternoon and I'm already feeling anxious. I've been tempted to ask UIUC's graduate coordinator when they expect to release decisions as my app has been "awaiting decision" for almost a month Is this advisable?

I just came across this question in the Texas Tech application that totally caught me off guard:
"What does the admissions committee need to know while considering your application? Tell us the part of your story that is not in the application documents (no word or length requirement)."
I think I might write about why my transcript from my first stab at undergrad is so bad. What would you all write about?
I too was caught off guard by this question on the TTU app- I wrote about my undergrad transcript and the personal circumstances that led to several W's on there. I hope that's what it's meant for...

Hey, did anyone else who applied to Illinois at Urbana-Champaign get an email from the financial aid office about sending your FAFSA to the school for Fall 2022? I know it's still super early and it might not mean anything but I'm looking for any small bit of hope!
I got that email as well!

I applied to UIUC yesterday as well and one of the writing samples was a disaster. I submitted that horrid application because my recommenders had already turned in their letters.
What are your research interests?
My research interests are 20th century American literature, film studies, and Latinx literature/performance! I'm hoping for the best this being my first cycle of applying

Submitted my first two applications for my first PhD application cycle! (UT and UIUC)
I'm relieved to finally click submit on the application. However, I feel as I'm at a disadvantage only applying to 6 PhD programs rather than 10-12.
