I don't add anything to add you , but I have a question. Do these 'points' discussed here hold for master's level thesis advisor's too? Or is a master's level thesis too trivial in comparison to a PhD thesis?

I had got 3 copies of the LOR from my recommender. I used up two and I had one with me. So I opened it up, just to see what she wrote(I did not need anymore). And, to my surprise, my recommender had taken photocopies of the letter and out it in there. I have submitted this same letter in my application and I had no issues. But ,my question is : do recommenders do this? I'm little annoyed that this lady prints out only one letter and then photo-copies it two times and then puts it in the envelope.

yeah, I am going to gauge my performance before I decide to register for the test again. Deadlines are in end-september. But, if I take the test I"ll do so before my fall semester starts, so sometime in August

I know . Money is killing me too! I already spent 500$ on the GMAT(I took it twice and screwed up both times). Now, another 250$ . toal of 750$ for the test alone and then the books. Oh my! I don't know what to do. I guess you are right - I need to put in my best and then decide what to do.

Mal thanks for your reply! I have been told what to improve on my application. Apparently, it is only my GMAT score . I contacted admissions about the transfer credit policy, but they did not quite know much. I think I will contact a grad advisor in the Dept. Yeah, I"ll need to go through the app again, then the GMAT test fee, and re-do some or all of my courses. I do have the motivation, I'm concerened about the money though.

Thanks so much for your perspective :-) Well my degree is a MS degree , not MA. Not sure if MS or MA is relevant to the topic here but just thought I would mention it. Thesis is what I am inclined towards as well. My only concern is I don't want to take an extra year to graduate and start working since I have already quit my job to pursue this degree and would like to return to working soon. I may want to do a PhD a few years down te line, but not sure if my plan right now. My degree is management information systems ad I would start looking for jobs toward the end I'd my program. A silly question that comes to my mind: do we pay for the thesis research or is it funded by the dept/project?

This is so relevant to what I was thinking a few weeks back!! I tried google calendar and outlook calendar too. Unforunately, I found it hard to keep up with such programs. Finally I got myself a nice small notebook that I purchased at my local walmart and I use it now . Works great for me:) . I note down my to-do list with the date , whenever I need to and then strike off a particular task as I complete it.

How hard is a master's level thesis? My school has a choice between a master's level thesis and a comprehensive exam and I'm thinking which one to choose. Typically, how many semesters does it take for the thesis research?

Hi Guys, I've got admitted into a grad program at a CUNY school. I had initially applied to Baruch too but was rejected. Baruch has been my dream all through. I want to re-apply but confused what to do. I have completed 3 credits at my current school and I have enrolled for another 3 credits for the Fall 2011 semester. I'm not sure if Baruch would accept my credits. This would mean spending time and money again! Nos sure if it is worth it. I'm so confused but I am unable to let go of Baruch . If I want to apply to Baruch, I'd need to retake GMAT, so this needs planning. I have to mention that this is not an accounting or finance program, for which baruch is typically well-known. What would you suggest? What should I do?

Is a letter of recommendation a common format?
nehs replied to nehs's topic in Letters of Recommendation
I have narrowed down on my choices for referees and they have agreed to write LORs for me. My question is how do I get them to write more than 1 letter for me as I'm applying to 3-4 different grad schools? They are all located in different citiees/countries. Hence, I would be sending them a brief document with my present details and also remind them of what work I did with them,so that they are reminded easily. The admissions committee of the universities has asked me to send LORs directly from the referree to the univ admission's team through email. But, their websites has a format for the LOR. How do I incorporate this format in the email? Some schools have online recommender forms and that's a lot easier to handle. please help me -

Thank You friends for the replies. Its been 5 years since I passed out of my college and I was wondering how to hunt down my professors and to complicate things, I studied outside the United States. Anyway,I'm going to try my luck by contacting them. And sharing my SOP with them is a great idea. Thank You. -
I'm in the process of applying to Grad School/Business School for Spring 2011. I am not able to find out how to ask for Letters of recommendation. Is this something like every university/college will have a differen format? or can I just as my referees to write a general one? Another question that I had is , Can I ask my supervisor at the volunteer work that I do to write me one? It is a distinguoshed Non profit but I did not work anything rellated to my work ex/education/future grad school.

Hi Friends, I'm planning a course in Informations systems(M.S.). Can any one help me by letting me know what the difference is between IS and MIS and CS? I'm pretty confused at the courses that these might have and also the kind of jobs that we might land after the course. Thank You.
