Which school are you waiting for?

Thanks! Yeah I mean that would never happen, but everything still seems undecided until I get the portal changed. And while some schools only take a few days, my program told me it will take a few weeks.. They seem to have a really slow process.. but I'll try to relax. Appreicate your reply!

Hey everyone! I also got off the waitlist from a program, and they said the official letter should come in a couple of weeks (I got an unofficial letter from the DGS). That means I am officially accepted right? Should I ever be worried about my decision until I get the official letter? I saw the post a couple of days ago from some who got off the waitlist from Duke and that Duke told him to ask for an extension of the program he or she is considering. So that made me a little worried if everything is still up in the air until I get the official letter? Might be thinking too much... but still wanted to ask!

Thanks! I also emailed them and got a reply about the waitlist ranking! I'm an IR applicant. For me, not really. Based on what I've heard about my ranking, it could be that the waitlist is small, or I was lucky enough to make it to the top of the waitlist. Not sure which one is true. I think if you're an IR applicant, you might have a decent chance of getting in, because I think most schools tend to admit more IR students compared to the other subfield. However, I'm not optimistic about funding. UCLA seems to accept people without funding.. and on their website, it says that some students pay tuition. (It was a post about in-state vs out-state tuition.. that itself means that there are some students who pay to get their PhD). For me, I think getting off the waitlist without funding means nothing. I would probably reject the offer. The fact that I'm on the waitlist and UCLA is known to have very limited funding for PhD students, I'm pretty sure I'm at the very end of the line for funding.

For those of you who got into a PhD program but still finishing your current master's program, how important do you think your last semester grades are? The requirement for PhD admissions is an undergrad degree so Im not sure if they will heavily look into my last semester grades, but this semester, I have this one advanced course.. and not doing so well on it.. Just took the midterm and feel pretty bad about it, although all of my other classmates said the same thing so there might be a curve. But just wondering if PhD decisions can also get revoked by last semester grades for current MA program.

For those who haven't heard back from Penn yet, should we assume it's a rejection? Not many acceptances have been posted but not sure.

Also claiming an acceptance from Emory! Super excited. The Berkeley post now seems even more suspicious aftet seeing all these immediate claims from ppl on this forum

I also think the Berkeley acceptances on the survey page is super suspicious. However, one thing I don't get is, if the Berkeley acceptances are from a troll, why would he or she not make a fake post about it on this Forum? I don't think it makes sense for them to not know about this forum since it's the most active forum going on for poli sci. The phrase "Just finding about this forum" from the Berkeley acceptance post seems super suspicious.
