  1. Hi everyone - I just received an offer of admission for the 2 year Non-BSW from Windsor at 3:30 PM via email! I will be declining, as I've already accepted my offer at Laurier so that will open up some space on the waitlist.
  2. I created a FB group for Laurier's 2 year MSW. I accepted my offer already so please join if you've accepted as well. I'd love to connect! https://www.facebook.com/groups/316453560512545 Edit: I don't think there's a group yet... but if there is, please send me the link!
  3. I emailed them this morning asking when we would hear back cause, I thought I wasn't going to get in, and you know, why not? They said all admission decisions should be out by the end of next week so you will hear back soon! Sure - I have ~9000 hours of paid experience (autism therapist, support worker, retail jobs) and 700 hours of unpaid experience (sibling mentor, girl guides leader, soup kitchen volunteer). My GPA is 75%. I barely met the minimum.
  4. I just found out I was accepted to Laurier via email! I was not expecting this at all! This is my first acceptance and my last school. I was rejected from Carleton, waitlisted at Windsor. I'm shocked...
  5. I haven't heard from them either (last name T) - I am expecting a rejection. Someone wrote earlier in the thread that Laurier sends acceptances via email and rejections via snail mail. I'm assuming that if I haven't heard from them, that I can expect a letter soon lol
  6. No. It is not worth it. I asked if they would be able to tell me how many people are on the waitlist and even then, they said they wouldn't be able to disclose that. I did, however, ask if Windsor saw increased applications this cycle to their 2 year non-BSW MSW and they said they received "roughly the same amount of applications as previous years".
  7. Just heard back from Windsor's 2 year MSW - I'm on the waitlist. So incredibly happy and hoping I'll be able to get in. Anyone know how the waitlist is for Windsor? Thanks in advance and good luck to those who are waiting.
  8. I'm really happy to have finally heard back from Carleton. I didn't get in. They had a record number of applications year 175 for 25 spots. If I'm doing my math right (which to be honest, I'm seriously doubting myself now), that's about 7 applications for every 1 spot. Some U of T odds right there. Carleton was my #1 choice so I'm very disappointed but I wish the rest of you guys luck!
  9. So exciting there's some Carleton movement! Hopefully my portal will change soon
  10. I haven't heard anything and my status hasn't changed either. The wait is killing me. Surprised we haven't seen any acceptances yet? IIRC, by this time on previous threads/years, people had already been accepted. I think with my luck, I'll be one of the last to hear haha.
  11. My status never changed on Carleton 360. It still says Preliminary Review Required. My status has changed on Carleton Central. Used to say Preliminary Review Required and then it changed to Recommended for Assessment. I heard on previous threads that you should check Carleton Central over Carleton 360 but at this point, I wouldn't worry too much because the email they sent to us says all applications have been given full consideration regardless of the status.
  12. Sorry to hear, but thank you for sharing the update. Hope you get into your other schools!
  13. Sounds like we'll be hearing from Carleton real soon as they've finished assessing all applicants. More applicants than last year so... fingers crossed!
  14. The application closed on Friday for the non-BSW and you already heard back that you weren't accepted? Is this normal? When did you hear back, if you don't mind me asking? I also applied but unsure when I'll be hearing back.
  15. Wow. Did your references complete their letters early? Mine still says preliminary review or something along those lines. Maybe alphabetical order last names?
  16. To those finishing up your applications these next 2 months like myself, keep going y'all! We're almost there! I finally submitted my Laurier application for the 2 year MSW (it was 32 pages - crazy!) tonight and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders! 1 or 2 more to go...
  17. Hey! Just wanted to say that we have the same background in ABA. If you don't mind me asking, how do you feel about your hours and how your experiences fit in with social work? How do you feel about these personal statements so far?
  18. Hi everyone! Happy to see this thread. I will be applying for the 2 year MSW with Laurier, King's, and Windsor. Thinking of also applying to Carleton. I have a Honours Bachelor of Science in Mental Health from U of T. Graduated with weaker grades, B+ final year and maybe a B overall. Higher grades in research and stat courses. Went on to do a post-grad program and now I am an Autism Therapist. Have around 4000 hours. I also volunteer as a mentor to a youth in my community (roughly 100 hours). I'm a bit concerned as my stats are less competitive than what I read from other applicants in previous threads but I am hoping my supplemental application is where I will truly shine. I'm looking forward to the next few months and to sharing this journey with you guys. If you have any tips or thoughts on my experience, please let me know!
  19. Hey, thanks for starting the thread! I was wondering when this year's would be posted. I'm also looking at Laurier, as well as Windsor and King's. I've started working on my Laurier application this week and it's getting me excited. I am slightly concerned at how competitive Laurier is but I am still going to try. If anyone reading this has any tips, feel free to let me know! I know in previous threads people have posted their experience and had others review it... I am concerned I have less experience than prior year applicants. I have an Honours BSc in Mental Health Studies, post-graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science. Worked as an Autism Therapist for the last 2 years or so (roughly 4000 hours). I also volunteer as a mentor to a youth in my community. My grades are average, but had a strong final year and grades in research courses. I am hoping that I will be able to shine through my supplemental applications. Anyone have any thoughts regarding my experience? I do have some older related experience as well and I was wondering if I should put this? I volunteered at a soup kitchen and with Girl Guides roughly 10 years ago. Thanks in advance and I hope to be an active participant throughout this thread and journey with everyone! :)
