    Hey y'all,

I recently received my first rejection of the season and contacted my potential advisor about it to get some insight. They said that my application was very strong, but that they decided that they didn't want to admit any students after I had already applied. The potential advisor said that there were other things happening in the department that caused them to change their mind about accepting students. Because I paid the expensive application fee with the expectation that I might be able to work with this person (you know, because they said that they were accepting students), would it be out of the question to ask the DGS or someone else in the department for a refund for my application fee?

Any thoughts you have would be appreciated!

I think the application fee is non-refundable but you can write to the DGS. Also may I ask which school is this

I saw a post a while back ( 1/27) (page 8 ) that said there were 15 candidates who had been selected for interviews and that the process was otherwise being finalized.  I was wondering if the post on the stream was just one of those or if maybe they were still looking.

They are still looking but this might just be the final interview. Brandeis Anthropology has funds for 2-3 PhD students. Rest is funded by two region specific centres.

You know, it might be a slightly different process then because I applied to their other combine program with the Yale School of Environment, and they did say that interviews were held separately by the professors, even though the email I received came from the DGS and seemed to be a general one aimed at various students.

I honestly hope you hear back from them ! Wouldn't hurt to contact the DGS I guess ? Wishing you all the best, and thank you for your kind words.

Yeah I am debating whether I should write to the DGS or not. I think they made the decision already. So will just wait for the rejection. Thank you for being so kind

Hey guys. I just checked on the results page and Rice has started giving out interview dates. I haven't received anything yet from them so I'm a little anxious. Is it time to send that mail requesting feedback on my application?

If it has been more than a month since you submitted, then yes.

    Good Luck

Laughs with 8 schools that have yet to release decisions

Lol I am sorry. I know I sound ungrateful but trust me grass is not greener on the other side. You may think that getting in the only challenge one has to overcome but the logics of a PhD will leave you dumbfounded especially if your Pi decides to take off without any notice.

  6. Why is Yale Anthropology taking such a long time. Majority of programs decided already. I am so nervous as I am a transfer applicant and my whole summer and academic trajectory depends on this admit. Also Harvard Anthropology is going to decide the shortlist by the end of this week. I just got to know from my PI.

Good Luck to everyone who applied

Not a Yale applicant but I checked how they did things in 2022 and 2021. It looks like they sent interview requests around the second week of February and acceptances/rejections/waitlist decisions around the third week. Maybe this will help with the anxiety?

    Thank you!! It does

Wow seems like the other person I ran cross is also fake... cannot believe it... Thanks for your clarification!

Yeah I don't know what joy people get from posting these fake results. It is so panic inducing. Also did anyone reach out to Yale DGS to ask about the timeline. I am stressing tf out

Hello, everyone. This is my second cycle of applications. Last year, I had applied to 4 schools and got rejected by all of them. This year, I graduated with a master's and have been preparing my applications for the cycle. I have applied to 11 schools (UCI, UCLA, UCB, UBuffalo, UNC, Cornell, Northwestern, U of Maryland, U of Minnesota, IUB, UT Austin), and intend to submit applications for one more (Brandeis). Socio-cultural track. I am worried, in some schools which had early application deadlines, my writing sample had some grammatical errors. But otherwise, I'm trying to be positive for this cycle. (Also the other side of me is making me believe that I blew up the application due to those grammatical errors lol) I think it is too early too expect responses from schools. Hoping everyone really gets through the best place they want to be in. Fingers crossed, for all of you. Good luck, guys!

If I may ask. Who do you intend to work with at Brandeis?
