Is it likely that WUSTL and UNC release decisions this week? They both seem to be running slightly behind schedule.

Claiming UMich rejection as well. I thought my fit was decent but with 500 applicants and a 3% acceptance rate (wow!), decent doesn’t cut it.

Claiming Rochester acceptance!

I have been told that a good, polished writing sample is an excellent way to signal to adcoms that you know what you're doing, or at least are on the right track (understand data analysis and able to use R/Python, know how to structure a piece of research, etc). Of course each committee varies in what they look for, but I think this advice holds up universally.

To be completely honest I would have probably said no too, even if I didn’t end up getting into anywhere else. I just took it to mean that I was so undesirable as a candidate that they didn’t want me in the department in any capacity. I don’t feel good about my chances at my other schools.

Rejected from Chicago. Didn’t even get a masters program referral. What an absolute garbage way to start the cycle. I think I shot too high with the schools I applied to. It’s a hard pill to have to swallow

The more time passes without any contact from any of the schools I applied to, the more I manage to convince myself that I won't get in anywhere. Lately I've been convinced that one of my letter writers intentionally sabotaged my application via a bad letter. It's miserable.

The automatic email they sent when I submitted my application said decisions wouldn’t come out before February 1st. The super early Princeton results may have been fakes.

Anyone have any info on UNC Chapel Hill decisions? Historically acceptances have gone out in very early Feb.

Someone earlier said that they have a friend who got admitted to Chicago via email for political science.

Interesting. I would assume legitimate offers of admission to political science means that those of us who haven't heard anything did not get in. It seems that in the past Chicago sends acceptances all at once in early February and then waits a few weeks before sending rejections.

Was your friend admitted to the political science program or the political economy program? They have separate admissions.

I’m in the EST time zone, so I don’t give up hope until 8 pm (5 California time)

I’ve said it before but I’m remaining hopeful. The chances of no one who got an “acceptance” claiming it on the forum are slim.
