  1. Thanks for the very good advices my friend. This is actually my 2nd year of applying and I will not apply again. I intentionally aimed for the top tier schools because I plan to "hit or miss" since phD is not the only option I had in my mind. I will matriculate if given the chance but you know, we gotta do what we want to do and we gotta live how we want to live, so at the end of the day, the day ended.
  2. Hi folks, I am an international applicant, and I have received no interviews so far despite good recommendations and publications. Here's my update: Columbia System Biology (Soft rejection)Princeton Genomics & Computational Biology (Assume rejection)Berkeley Computational Biology (Assume rejection)MIT Computational & System Biology (Rejection)Yale Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (Assume rejection)Duke Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (Assume rejection)Johns hopkins Biomedical Engineering (Assume rejection)Havard B.I.G (Assume rejection)U Mich Pibs (Rejection)UCLA Bioinformatics in Bioscience (Rejection)Tri Computational Biology & Medicine (Rejection)USC Quantitative and Computational BiologyBrown Computational Molecular Biology At this point I think my application is going to tank and I am ready to resolve to explore other options rather than going for a phD. Congrats to the folks who have gotten interviews, and sincerely wish you all the best in the upcoming journeys ahead.
  3. So, it says that all decisions, not interviews, will be determined by third week of January. If you are not invited for interviews (I didn't get one), I assume that there will only be rejection letters?
  4. it varies, but basically the break is until 1.3rd or so. Some schools send most of their interviews before the break, some send it right afterwards (within 1 or 2 weeks). So I think as far as interviews goes, most schools will send them by the midst of January. I made all this up from intuition. don't listen to me.
  5. so basically the first two weeks after the winter break is crucial for 2nd batch of interviews and if we don't get it we go cucu for coco pahst?
  6. Yeah, same... Princeton is definitely my top choice, they send interviews quite earlier. I don't know if they will keep sending interviews but I hope so.
  7. hmm sorry for your loss. I didn't know that they have started to send rejection letters already... harsh
  8. This year will definitely be easier than last year due to the diminishing effect of COVID.
  9. I heard that this week will likely be the week for some schools to send invites (the earlier ones). But I wasn't so sure.
