On a related note, I would avoid Syracuse University. I did a summer of undergraduate research there and the culture was bad. I'd see professors yelling at students, and PhD students taking >8 years to finish because their advisors basically prevented them from graduating in order to extract cheap labor out of them. Also, some of the other undergrads I worked with had worked in multiple research groups at Syracuse, and they told me that other groups in the department actually had a worse culture than the group I was working in!
