  1. Today's the day we hear back about our YSE financial aid petitions! Hoping for the best
  2. Hey, I'll give the perspective of someone who also just got accepted into grad programs but hasn't yet attended. IMO, one of the best things about grad school is the skills and connections you develop during your time there. For that reason, I think that two years is better than one, it gives you more time to develop skills, do independent projects, have a summer internship, and make those connections. Columbia's program means that you're dedicating one entire year to education and no opportunity for a fellowship in between summers. However, I feel like that's more important if you're younger, like me, and you have limited real-world environmental career experience. Also, two years of schooling gives you the freedom to explore classes that you might not have the ability to explore in a one year, crunched, program like that of Columbia's. *AND* like you said, Michigan has a much longer and accomplished history. But ultimately it's up to you and there are so many factors that you can't compare quantitatively! If your heart is all in on Columbia and it'll give you what you need out of a program, go for it:)
  3. I asked YSE for more financial aid yesterday, I have no idea if they will offer me anything but I think it's worth asking! They accepted you, they want you to succeed, and they're yale, lol. They've got money. Also, I know someone who went through the MEM program and she sent YSE her fin aid packaged from other schools to YSE and asked YSE to increase her funding and they did! I asked them to match the amount UCSB is offering me, which is probably not gonna happen but I feel like it's worth the ask. I first emailed the financial aid email and they directed me to go through an online appeals process but it was really simple & quick.
  4. i didn't! What type of message did you get? Like an actual money amount?
  5. congrats!!!!! I haven't heard anything yet hehe Did you get an email or check your portal?
  6. i didnt ask them! not sure. the email they sent out last week says we'll get an email notifying us that the decision is available so it sounds like it
  7. btw i called YSE to see if I could get a little more intel on what time decisions come out but they just said by 5 they also said that it's going to be sent in mass email, so that means some people will get the email before others. I guess if you start seeing people post on this thread that they got a result and you haven't received anything, don't stress and give it a bit more time!
  8. yup, anticipation is killin me, what time do you think it'll come out? I'm expecting it to come out in the afternoon, just cause the other school results also came around 5/6 EST but hopefully I'm wrong and it's earlier
  9. maybe!! it's what i've been hoping for all week but I feel like realistically it'll probably come out tomorrow tbh now what time tomorrow is the kicker, I hope it's sooner rather than later
  10. Last full day before YSE decision day!! Starting to feel the anxiety again lol Gonna watch Batman tonight after work to let 3 hours fly by
  11. for those admitted to Bren, they sent out an email on March 4th to RSVP for their new student week. I just saw it in my email because gmail put it under "promotions" ? just a heads up in case you haven't seen it either
  12. my funding included everything! with possibility of renewal for the second year
  13. hey, do you know if this has happened before? Or does it always come out on the date they say? @Boolakanaka
  14. At least now we know exactly when we'll hear back, wish it was sooner though!
  15. Yes it was, and underneath the statement that said my scholarship could be renewed, there was a chart displaying what the fund dispersal looked like, as well as the total amount of money I'd be given if I received the scholarship for both years of the program And absolutely, I hope to see you there!!:)
  16. I got full funding for the 2022-2023 school year with the possibility of renewal for my second year if I remain in good standing and take 12 units!
  17. same, I got such a strong shot of adrenaline when I got that email. They sent the last newsletter on Feb 3rd which makes me think they're delivered exactly a month apart regardless of when we get results. tbh I feel like we could hear as soon as tomorrow even though they said "in the coming weeks"
  18. lol I called them when i wrote that and they didnt pick up and then called them again just now and they didnt pick up again! that was scary HAHA
  19. Also, has anyone called YSE to inquire the date results come out? Is that like bad practice lol I'm so excited to hear back from them, idk if I should call but I kind of want to.
  20. If the program you like the most (School A) doesn't offer you as much as another program you got into (School B ), you can always ask School A in a nice way if they can increase their funding to the level School B provides. My friend did that for Yale and she got a higher scholarship. She's also taking out loans and working a part-time job within YSE
  21. I got full funding for Bren but absolutely zero funding for another program (U Miami). I have savings for my living expenses and luckily also my parents saved up money for my schooling that I didn't touch in undergrad because I got a full scholarship for undergrad. Hoping that Yale comes out soon so that I can start planning what my future will look like.
  22. I got into Bren MESM!! Funding letter attached like you said, ramreg
  23. I agree, no sense in anguishing over the weekend haha:) let the stress will pick back up on Monday!
