    Howdy everyone. UC San Diego is having open studios next weekend (Feb 26) for anyone in California who is interested in attending. Our program is 3 years long and we hold 30 MFA students currently. Please check it out if you are considering on reapplying next year. An Instagram page has been created for the MFA students, @UCSDMFA for anyone interested.

    The current students at UCSD have already submitted their picks. Faculty is left to decide now. Max amount of students admitted would be 10 but the newest cohort has 8.

    I know people are confused on what to say/how to act during interviews. This is the time to shine your personality at the faculty. Something they take into consideration is if they think you will fit in well/ get along with the current cohorts. There have been incredible artists with SOUR attitudes that they had to reject due to the fact they thought the current cohorts would dislike them. Be funny, smart, gentle and enthusiastic and show that you’re willing to work with the faculty and be involved with the cohorts.

    Hey sorry for the late response. I kinda forgot about this forum for a bit. But yes we have a lot of Latinx and Chicano artists, I recommend going through the list MFA students and professors. We have a metalshop that is barely being used but it’s there. Considering that it’s close to Tijuana and the Border, faculty like to see students working with those resources.

    Hello, Current student at UCSD. Just plugging in to say that it’s a great school. Over 300 applied last year and only accepted 8 incredible artist. One even chose UCSD over YALE. We got no painters in the newest cohort so if you are a painter, you might have luck this round. Many lens based artist in the newest cohort. The program overall is very happy and supportive of the queer community. Totally recommend. Xoxoxo
