I also had a student led interview but they were mostly there to check the vibes. We bantered about research and we talked about the city. I think that those interviews are pretty low stakes but if you want to be prepared you can look into the labs they are in and ask research questions. The program asks for student feedback but it isn’t weighted heavily.

I just want to add this to the thread. Here are some programs that I know of that can give you additional research experience or just a research intensive job in between application cycles. PREP programs- 1 year program intended to better prepare you for admissions into a PhD https://www.nigms.nih.gov/training/PREP/Pages/PartInstPREP.aspx American public health labs post-bac fellowship (many of the labs are at the cdc) https://www.aphl.org/fellowships/Pages/default.aspx Bridges to the doctorate- nih funded masters degree (I did one of these!) participating https://www.nigms.nih.gov/maps/Pages/Bridges-to-the-Doctorate-Program-Participating-Institutions.aspx programs like these also exist at other schools under similar names I know the University of Virginia has one. If anyone else knows of similar programs please add them! -

I got an official rejection from them so i think if you haven’t heard back that’s a good thing. Maybe waitlisted -

That really sucks, sorry to hear that. If you don’t mind sharing what are your stats, where did you apply, and what’s the game plan for next cycle? -

I just got into HARVARD! The virology program. It was my number 1 choice and i'm so excited. i would like to ask you guys opinion. I have 5 more interviews but is it better to decline the interviews and free up the waitlist? my mentor says i should see the interviews through so that i can make an informed decision. what do you think? -
Is it okay to reach out after an interview?
Cherryblue001 replied to atm14834's topic in Waiting it Out
Personally I would just wait. Waiting sucks but you don't want to pester people. -
