  1. You’ve only got 15 minutes. So keep your answers concise. Look back at your SOP. what did you say you wanted to study there? Stay consistent. Are you looking at advancing the foundation of health education or policy? Is there a particular therapeutic area of interest you wrote about? Also be prepare to answer questions about your thoughts on attending a program rooted in a faith-based framework. LOOK AT THE COURSES FOR YOUR PROGRAM OF CHOICE. They asked about what courses I felt I would gain the most learning from. Luckily I was able to highlight a few courses by name. Also be prepared to give a minute elevator pitch about why LLU is a good fit mutually. Best of luck! Rooting for you!!!!
  2. Awesome!!! Rutgers is a solid choice, for sure. Yes, I'm in NJ and also like the idea of escaping from three (!) young kids every so often, hence why I chose UIC (I do get to travel here and there for work, so I get a little respite). I've actually never been to Chicago, oddly. I am hoping the weather is alright in August. Good call on LinkedIn! We should definitely get connected, I'm terrible at actually using it. (www.linkedin.com/in/ellenindoe-mches) I'd love to hear about what kind of opportunity you are exploring. I'm in behavior science, so we are fortunate to work across a number of disciplines, which I really enjoy. I tend to find myself working with obscure diseases (e.g., Ebola). Don't be scared of 'contract' positions, that seems to be a way of identifying talent. Let's connect offline- I doubt anyone here wants to hear our 'life stories'. ?
  3. Thanks! Did you decide which program you are joining (I've been travelling for work so haven't been on here in a minute)? Glad to hear positive feedback about the program and that their alumni are successful. My employer informed me that since I am going with UIC's DrPH, they are putting me in their leadership track. (I work the philanthropic side of pharma doing global public health - I know, that seems like an oxymoron)
  4. From my understanding, there is not a legally binding agreement when you "commit" to a school. Just as much as if you received a better job offer after accepting a previous one. If your colleague really believes that the second offer is the best fit for them, they may have to swallow the deposit as those usually are not refundable. But there is no legal consequences for switching programs. The sooner they make the decision, the better it will be for the first program, as they will have time to dip into their waiting list. (That's why they have them). My advice would be to be clear with the other school. They may even come back with another competitive offer. This happened to my SIL. Open communication is key, regardless of which program they go with. Never know when they could cross paths with the other university/professors in the future. Hope this is insightful.
  5. Has anyone else been accepted to UIC DrPH? I feel like I saw someone mention it a while back. Would love to connect if there is anyone out there joining the cohort. FWIW I received an acceptance within 30 minutes after completing my interview this morning. Still riding the high. Also interviewed with Loma Linda this week and they stated that decisions may take a few more weeks to come back.
  6. Will do. The interview isn't until next month, so it is cutting close- but their program aligns very well with my background and interests. Fingers crossed you hear soon. I only heard from them the other day.
  7. I have an interview scheduled with them. That is from the Health Education track.
  8. It keeps me thinking positively. Haven’t heard a thing from Rutgers, and despite my best efforts, refreshing my email every 20 minutes won’t make them decide any quicker. ?
  9. I was a bit surprised to see something coming through before March, so I honestly expected it to be a rejection. I'll take this for now. I think of it this way, at least our applications have made it to the department-level for review. . . perhaps? ?
  10. Interesting. I did visit the campus in 2020, since I'm local (right before COVID hit). And spoke with a few professors, though at that time they had paused their DrPH programs. Fingers crossed that we hear from JHU very soon. Congrats again, you know now you've got an option!
  11. Congrats to you!! Haven't received any communication from them since submitting the application, so feeling a bit discouraged. Did you interview with them at all? Also waiting to hear back from JHU (Implementation Science). You're still in the door and that's great!
  12. Good day, I am not familiar with BU DrPH, however I did just receive an email from Loma Linda last week, as a check-in while waiting for the application deadline. From our conversation, applications will not be reviewed until after March 1st, and interviews will be conducted as standard. Hope this is helpful. Best of luck to you!
  13. Nice to see others who applied to Rutgers DrPH. Where did you hear that they may be sending out results within this timeline? (From the department or admissions?) I also mainly applied to mainly online DrPH programs but hoping for Rutgers, as I drive past it to and from work, when we aren't virtual. Best of luck to you! (Also, I have no idea how to use this platform, forgive me if I did it incorrectly).
