  1. has anyone heard anything? i checked my mail yesterday and still nothing. EEK!
  2. hey everyone! i applied for the soros fellowship for new americans. i submitted my application about 2 weeks ago. (deadline is nov 1). has anyone else applied? perhaps we can wait it out together. any past winners here? looking forward to hearing from some of you.
  3. i am surprised by the lack of information regarding funding, etc. as well.
  4. hello! so i am happy to say that i got into CUNY (full funding) and i just found out that i got into Columbia (Teachers College). i am thrilled and i genuinely love both programs. at CUNY it is a phd in urban education and at columbia, it is in english education. i love both programs and the people i would get to work with. i am worried about funding from TC because they are known to not fully fund their students (which i don't quite understand...) the head of the department at TC has been in touch with me and says "we will do whatever it takes to have you at teachers college and we will ensure you are financially supported".....ummmmmm. that seems so vague to me. the professors who i would work with have reached out to me via email. also, the professors at CUNY have been amazing being in touch with me and answering all questions. they even have some current students emailing me and answering my questions. i feel like both schools are putting in serious effort, but i still would like to hear from current students in either of these programs. so torn at the moment...
  5. i got in for the phd in english education!!!! so happy!!!!!
  6. i found out on thursday night that i got in to the urban ed program for phd! super excited as it was one of my top choices. i submitted my application in early december. i hope you hear something soon!
  7. i just got rejected via website too. good luck to everyone! i am still happy about my acceptance into CUNY grad center thus far :-)
  8. update: i had a great meeting with a POI yesterday. the funding package sounds good too. can't wait to hear back! still waiting on the other schools...
  9. i initially applied for the phd in reading/writing/literacy. was sent an email in early january stating that they wanted to consider me for the edd in the same program instead. i agreed and haven't heard from them since! sigh. just checked my application and no updated news was there. i'm not feeling confident that i got in, but they can at least send out some letters. rejection letters are easy right? sigh......
  10. I received an email from a professor in the urban education department (phd) from the CUNY graduate center. he says he wants to meet with me next week for a "personal meeting." this is the first news i've received and i am excited about it. has anyone else heard from CUNY?
  11. did everyone get the email to apply for the Zankel Urban Fellowship and TC scholarship on Feb 14th? i got the email and wanted to know if it's just a mass email thing? it's so frustrating seeing an email from columbia not with results but to do another application! i am going nuts waiting!
