Well according last year's version of this blog matches seemed to carry on till mid April at least. So using that as a barometer, we still have hope. I took someone's earlier suggestion and reached out to the Fellowship team at the University I was admitted to and asked point blank if they would fund me as an Associates fellow.

Since being released by Synopsys I was held by Amazon for a minute, now Johnson & Johnson are taking a look. Fingers crossed ??

Heavenly sweet joy lol... I am so happy that I got a response from an active fellow. I am somewhat hopeful that Purdue would sponsor me, they are listed as my "University Sponsor" on the "myfellowship" page not that it means anything but one can only hope. Thank you very much for your prompt response and yes Boiler up! lol

Not sure of that answer, perhaps someone already in the fellowship can answer that. my query is, if I do not end up with an employer is it guaranteed that I would be an associate fellow? Or would they simply say “better luck next time”. Likely a question answered by someone who has been through the process.

Thanks, the interview went well and what they’d need me for I am totally capable of doing. Just not sure it came across as such, the interviewer did say he would make attempts to place me somewhere within their company so I am not overly optimistic that I got in, I guess time will tell.

I am bursting with excitement, I have my first interview this Friday. I am cautiously optimistic, the company deals with a lot of exciting new things that seem very interesting to me. Wish me luck folks, I have the admission now I need the employer to pick me up…

I would wait on accepting the congratulations until I have a signed contract but yes things seem to be headed in the right direction. we all should get there either by employer or university fellowship.

Yea I got accepted by Purdue for a fall start last November so I am waiting on an employer to “fall in love” with my application lol. I have my first scheduled interview for a company called synopsys never heard of them but they seem to be big players in the field I am jazzed about. Wish me luck.

I take that back, I now am showing two of the three simply waiting on acknowledgment of the third at this point.

One of mine reported that roughly two months ago (I declined their offer). Another (I accepted admission) offered admission back in November but GEM is yet to update my status. My third, I applied and haven’t yet heard from them if I was accepted or not. So everything still seems not to be nailed down.

I hope to be one selected this year as I am looking to get a doctorate in Technology so fingers crossed ??

You, sir/ma’am are a genius lol. So it appears NASA is interested in me but for whatever reason haven’t yet pulled the trigger on interview or anything beyond the magical “held” lol. ??

How long did you sit in “held” or were you simply matched and then picked up? I have accepted an offer from a member university I just hope I get the fellowship to totally round this out and hope they allow a virtual internship this summer.

Congratulations wow that was quick. I have yet to be contacted either via phone or email. Simply hanging in the employer “held” zone…

On a separate but related track I asked about the whole employer matched vs held and got the response below… “ Thank you for contacting us at The National GEM Consortium. The status you are looking for is Selected, which mean an employer has selected your application to move to the next step. ” In all honesty while I do want the fellowship 100% I would rather get an associate fellowship as I like my current job and do not know how I could get away for a 12 week internship unless the let me do it virtually…

At this point I am clueless, I am due to start in the fall so it’s this or student loans I obviously prefer this.

Did you eventually get a call? I went from matched to held within the past 24 hours and have yet to receive any email from the employer or GEMs. I am slightly confused…
